Fanatec CSL Steering Wheel 320 Alcantara V2

320 mm round Alcantara rim with white accents on the CSL Universal Hub V2

Description

The Fanatec CSL Steering Wheel 320 Alcantara® V2 bundles the ClubSport Wheel Rim 320 Alcantara® with the CSL Universal Hub V2. The multi-purpose, fully round three-spoke rim measures 320 mm, has ergonomic grips and is wrapped in genuine Alcantara® with a white leather center stripe and white stitching. The rim weighs 839 g.

CSL Universal Hub V2. A stepless slider (60 mm of travel) adjusts the button islands and paddles to the rim (paddle width 214-274 mm). Metal bracing adds up to 23% rigidity over V1, and the honeycomb-reinforced paddles have a revised shape and spring mechanism.

Inputs. Eight snap-dome buttons, a 2-way rocker, two 2-way toggle switches, a 7-way FunkySwitch with rotary encoder, a Tuning Menu button and a three-digit LED display. Button islands are not removable. Although the rim itself is designed for the Podium Button Module Endurance, Fanatec states this CSL hub bundle is not compatible with it.

Quick release. QR2 Lite Wheel-Side in carbon fiber-reinforced composite.

Compatibility. Requires a Fanatec wheel base (not included): Podium DD1/DD2, ClubSport DD/DD+, ClubSport V2/V2.5, CSL Elite bases, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. Windows PC and PlayStation with a PlayStation-licensed base; not compatible with Xbox.

Driving style

The CSL 320 Alcantara V2 gives you the same 320 mm aluminium rim wrapped in genuine Alcantara as the ClubSport version, with a white leather centre stripe, on the lighter CSL Universal Hub V2. The expanding hub slides steplessly to fit, the rim suits GT and endurance racing with gloves, and QR2 Lite keeps the connection simple on any Fanatec base. It covers Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing and GT series racing without paying ClubSport hub prices. Best for GT and endurance racing with gloves; less suited for bare-hand casual sessions and formula cars.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The rim is genuine: a three-spoke aluminium wheel at 320 mm, 839 g, wrapped in real Alcantara with a white leather centre stripe. The CSL Universal Hub V2 is where the budget goes, using an expanding slider mechanism with metal bracing that improves rigidity up to 23% versus V1, ergonomic shifter paddles and non-removable button islands with snap-dome activation. Mixed metal and polymer, finished properly, with the load paths in metal.

Software

The CSL 320 Alcantara V2 runs entirely through the Fanatec base it mounts to: firmware, Tuning Menu and force feedback settings are configured in the Fanatec App for Windows PC, which also updates the base and the quick release electronics. On console, compatibility follows the base: pair it with a PlayStation-licensed base for PS4 and PS5, while PC works with any Fanatec base. Inputs and telemetry use the Fanatec SDK in supported games, and SimHub can push custom dashboards to compatible displays.

Frequently asked questions

Which wheel bases and consoles does the CSL Steering Wheel 320 Alcantara V2 work with?

It needs a Fanatec wheel base. Fanatec lists Podium DD1/DD2, ClubSport DD/DD+, ClubSport V2/V2.5, CSL Elite bases, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. It works on Windows PC and on PlayStation with a PlayStation-licensed base, where functionality can be limited by the game. It is not compatible with Xbox.

Is the QR2 Lite strong enough for a high-torque base?

Sources differ. The product page says the bundle has no torque limitation (a firmware update may be needed). Fanatec's own QR2 guide says the composite QR2 Lite does not support High Torque Mode on Podium DD bases, has limited support on ClubSport DD, and is best suited to CSL DD (5 or 8 Nm); it recommends the metal QR2 for higher force feedback.

How do the CSL Universal Hub V2 paddles and buttons feel?

OC Sim Racing found the paddles satisfying with comfortable travel and a moderate click, and noticed no significant flex thanks to the metal-braced slider (Fanatec quotes up to 23% more rigidity than V1). Buttons have a firm action, but the hub is mostly injection-molded plastic and the button icons are fixed. There are no clutch paddles.

Can I use the Podium Button Module Endurance with this wheel?

Not with this bundle. The 320 Alcantara rim is designed for the Podium Button Module Endurance, but Fanatec states the CSL hub bundle is not compatible with it. To use the module you would need a ClubSport Universal Hub V2, as in the ClubSport Steering Wheel 320 Alcantara.

How do I keep the Alcantara grip in good condition?

Fanatec advises wiping Alcantara rims with a microfiber cloth and lukewarm water and avoiding chemical cleaners. It notes gloves keep the rim clean but can add wear that is not covered by warranty. On GTPlanet, users report Alcantara mostly goes flat and grey from sweat and skin oils, and restore it with a damp microfiber cloth and a drop of mild soap.

How does it compare with the ClubSport Steering Wheel 320 Alcantara?

Both use the 320 mm Alcantara rim. The ClubSport version ($514.99) adds removable button clusters, 16 integrated buttons, a CNC aluminum magnetic paddle module, a metal QR2 and Button Module Endurance support; the CSL version costs $264.99 on Fanatec US.

What warranty does Fanatec offer on this wheel?

Since June 3, 2025, Fanatec offers a three-year limited warranty on Fanatec-branded products bought from Fanatec or authorized retailers, plus a 30-day return window. Items in a bundle are covered individually, and wear, misuse or unauthorized modifications are excluded.

Is the CSL 320 Alcantara V2 good value?

Fanatec US lists it at $264.99 (regular $369.98); the CSL Universal Hub V2 alone is $189.99. OC Sim Racing considered the CSL hub plus rim bundles a strong, sturdy option for the price, with the main trade-off being plastic construction.

What does the LED display show and how do I change settings?

Press the Tuning Menu button and use the FunkySwitch to adjust force feedback and hardware settings on the three-digit LED display. In compatible games or third-party software it also shows telemetry such as the current gear, which reviewers note is useful for console players.
