Fanatec CSL Universal Hub V2
Width-adjustable hub with integrated buttons, paddles, display and QR2 Lite for 6x70 and 3x50 rims
Description
The Fanatec CSL Universal Hub V2 lets you attach a wide range of wheel rims to a Fanatec wheel base, combining many features of the ClubSport Universal Hub at a lower price.
Width adjustment. A stepless slider expands by 60 mm, moving the button islands and shifter paddles together from 214 mm to 274 mm to suit different rim sizes.
Inputs. Eight snap-dome buttons, a 2-way rocker switch, two 2-way toggle switches, a 7-way FunkySwitch with rotary encoder, a Tuning Menu button and a three-digit LED display for tuning and telemetry. Ergonomic paddles with honeycomb reinforcement and a revised spring mechanism.
Build. Metal bracing improves rigidity by up to 23% over V1. DataPort-C connector for future upgrades. QR2 Lite Wheel-Side (carbon fiber-reinforced composite) preinstalled, with no torque limitation.
Rims. Fits all Fanatec wheel rims and third-party rims with 6 x 70 mm or 3 x 50 mm patterns (e.g. Sparco, MOMO, OMP). Buttons and paddles are hard to reach with large dished rims.
Platforms. Windows PC; PlayStation functionality can be limited and depends on the base and game. Not compatible with Xbox. Not compatible with the Podium Button Module Endurance.
Features & highlights
Driving style
The CSL Universal Hub V2 suits drivers who want to swap between Fanatec or aftermarket rims, such as a round rally or drift rim and a smaller GT rim, while keeping buttons, paddles and on-wheel tuning on PC or PlayStation. OC Racing found no noticeable flex, satisfying paddles and easy width adjustment from a 275 mm to a 330 mm rim, and DG-Edge scored the bundle 8.6 for value. Best for budget-minded GT, rally and drift drivers building custom wheels, less suited for Xbox players or drivers using large dished rims, where the controls are hard to reach.
Build quality
The hub is mostly injection-molded plastic with metal bracing that Fanatec says increases rigidity by up to 23% over V1, plus a carbon fiber-reinforced composite QR2 Lite. OC Racing saw no noticeable flex from buttons or paddles, while Boosted Media notes some flex remains and DG-Edge flags the mainly plastic build as a durability concern.
Software
The hub's Tuning Menu button and three-digit display let you adjust Fanatec force feedback and hardware settings on the wheel, including on console, and the Windows-only Fanatec App handles firmware and full configuration on PC. The display can show telemetry from compatible games or third-party software. DG-Edge found button mapping less intuitive than hoped.
