Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro Wheel Base (8 Nm)

Official Gran Turismo direct drive base for PS5, PS4 and PC with Boost Kit 180 and QR2 Lite

Description

The Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro is the official direct drive wheel base for Gran Turismo, officially licensed for PS5 and PS4 and compatible with PC on all major racing games. This package includes the Boost Kit 180 power supply, which runs the base in its 8 Nm peak torque mode.

Motor. A compact direct drive motor with patented FluxBarrier technology and a steering axis made from carbon fiber-enhanced composite. The extruded, CNC-machined aluminum housing doubles as the structural chassis and passive heat sink, so it runs fanless. It uses the same high-resolution contactless Hall-position sensor as the Podium DD1, with rotation adjustable up to 2520 degrees.

FullForce. Fanatec added FullForce high-frequency detail effects to the GT DD Pro via firmware, and Gran Turismo 7 enabled them in update 1.71.

Quick release. Units now ship with the QR2 Lite Base-Side (Type-C) preinstalled, made of carbon fiber-reinforced polyamide with a tapered fit, replacing the earlier QR1 setup. A slip ring delivers power and data to the wheel.

Mounting and ports. T-nut rails on the sides and bottom, with an optional table clamp (5-60 mm) sold separately. Ports: power, USB-C, Shifter 1, Shifter 2 (sequential), Pedals and Handbrake. PlayStation button caps are included. Compatible with Fanatec Podium, ClubSport and CSL steering wheels depending on the quick release, plus Fanatec pedals, shifters and handbrakes.

Driving style

The Gran Turismo DD Pro is built for PlayStation players, especially Gran Turismo 7 fans, who want direct drive force feedback in a compact package that also works on PC. With the included Boost Kit 180 it runs at 8 Nm peak, which reviewers of the closely related CSL DD found gives clearer feedback at the grip limit than the 5 Nm mode, though The Drive notes it covers what most players need. It suits desk or cockpit setups and drivers moving up from belt or gear wheels; those wanting more torque on PlayStation should look at the ClubSport DD+.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The GT DD Pro uses an extruded, CNC-machined aluminum housing that serves as both the structural chassis and a passive heat sink, closed with composite end caps, so it runs without a fan. The steering axis is a carbon fiber-enhanced composite and the preinstalled QR2 Lite Base-Side is carbon fiber-reinforced polyamide rather than aluminum. It is compact and mounts on T-nut rails or an optional table clamp. Fanatec covers it with a three-year warranty.

Software

The GT DD Pro is updated through the Windows-only Fanatec App, so PlayStation owners need to connect it to a PC for firmware updates. On the wheel, a Standard Tuning Menu keeps setup simple while the Advanced Tuning Menu exposes detailed force feedback settings, including the FUL setting for FullForce strength. After Gran Turismo 7 update 1.71 enabled FullForce, Fanatec App V1.5.4.1 (September 2026) delivered a firmware hotfix for the stability problems some owners reported.

Frequently asked questions

Which platforms does the Gran Turismo DD Pro support?

Fanatec states it is officially licensed for PS5 and PS4 and compatible with PC on all major racing games. Compatibility with other platforms depends on the steering wheel; Fanatec's Xbox FAQ says any Fanatec base works on Xbox when used with an Xbox-licensed Fanatec wheel. PC compatibility is tested by Fanatec but not endorsed by Sony.

Does the GT DD Pro come with QR2?

Yes. GTPlanet reported in 2025 that GT DD Pro units began shipping with Fanatec's QR2 quick release preinstalled instead of requiring a separate upgrade. Fanatec's current US listing includes the QR2 Lite Base-Side (Type-C) preinstalled, which works with QR2 Lite, regular and Pro wheel-sides.

Does the 8 Nm Boost Kit make a real difference?

This package includes the Boost Kit 180, so it runs at 8 Nm peak. Traxion's test of the same motor in the CSL DD found top pace similar at 5 and 8 Nm, but 8 Nm made grip loss easier to read and boosted confidence, while some sims needed lower force settings to stay controllable.

Were there problems with the GT DD Pro in Gran Turismo 7?

Yes. After GT7 update 1.71 enabled FullForce in August 2026, owners reported force feedback loss, oscillation and base shutdowns. Fanatec initially advised lowering the FUL setting, then released a firmware hotfix in Fanatec App V1.5.4.1 on September 3, 2026; early forum reports after the fix were positive.

GT DD Pro or ClubSport DD+ for PlayStation?

The GT DD Pro delivers 8 Nm peak with the Boost Kit for $599.99 on Fanatec US, while the ClubSport DD+ delivers 18 Nm holding torque for $899.99. The Drive concluded the GT DD Pro with the Boost Kit covers what most players need, and that the higher-torque DD+ makes sense mainly for PlayStation owners who want more strength.

Is the GT DD Pro good value?

Fanatec US now lists the base with Boost Kit 180 at $599.99; GTPlanet reported a $739.99 price for the 8 Nm base when the QR2 version launched in 2025. BoxThisLap called the closely related CSL DD unbeatable for what it offers at its price, and the GT DD Pro adds official PlayStation licensing.

What warranty does Fanatec offer on the GT DD Pro?

Since June 3, 2025, Fanatec offers a three-year limited warranty on Fanatec-branded products bought from Fanatec or authorized retailers, plus a 30-day return window. If problems persist after a restart, GTPlanet reports Fanatec asks owners to contact support with their firmware version, Tuning Menu settings and power supply.

How do I update firmware and adjust FullForce on a PS5?

Firmware is installed with the Windows-only Fanatec App, so PlayStation users must connect the base to a PC to update, as GTPlanet notes. FullForce strength is set with the FUL value in the wheel's Tuning Menu, and the Standard and Advanced Tuning Menus cover the remaining force feedback settings.
