Fanatec ClubSport DD+ (18 Nm)

18 Nm PlayStation-licensed direct drive base with FullForce and QR2

Description

The Fanatec ClubSport DD+ is the PlayStation-licensed version of the ClubSport DD, officially licensed for PS5 and PS4 and working out of the box on Windows PC. It delivers 18 Nm of holding torque: it launched at 15 Nm, and a free firmware update in May 2026 (V1.4.2.3 or later) raised it to 18 Nm.

Motor. A direct drive servo motor custom-designed in Germany, with an optimized rotor skew angle to reduce cogging and patented FluxBarrier technology. It is passively cooled, and Fanatec calls it the most thermally stable base in its class, designed to hold its rated torque without derating even at maximum force feedback. A contactless Hall-position sensor reads the steering angle, and rotation is adjustable up to 2520 degrees.

FullForce. Fanatec's force feedback protocol for direct drive adds low-latency, high-frequency detail such as engine revs and road surface in supported games.

QR2 and build. Designed for QR2 from the ground up, with the QR electronics module integrated into the shaft and a diecast aluminum QR2 Base-Side (Type-F) preinstalled. A slip ring delivers power and data to the wheel, and a T-nut rail system on the sides and bottom allows adjustable hard-mounting.

Ports and compatibility. Power, USB-C, Shifter 1, Shifter 2 (sequential), Pedals, Handbrake and CAN. Compatible with all Fanatec QR2 steering wheels, pedals, ClubSport shifters and handbrakes. Xbox support depends on using an Xbox-licensed Fanatec wheel. ClubSport Static Shifter Paddles are not supported.

Driving style

The ClubSport DD+ is the base for PlayStation sim racers who want serious direct drive torque, and it works just as well on PC. Its 18 Nm of holding torque, raised from 15 Nm by a free 2026 firmware update, gives plenty of headroom for Gran Turismo 7, F1 and GT or endurance racing on PC; The Drive's reviewer found 10 Nm enough and described the steering as precise, weighty and punchy. It also suits Xbox racers who use Xbox-licensed Fanatec wheels. Casual players may find it more than they need, and its weight calls for a rigid cockpit rather than a desk.

Build quality

Premium build

The ClubSport DD+ shares the ClubSport DD's dense metal body, whose ridged surface acts as a heatsink and whose bottom and side rails allow hard-mounting at any point. Inside are an aluminum motor shaft and bearing seat, with the QR2 electronics module integrated into the shaft and a diecast aluminum QR2 Base-Side preinstalled. Reviewers describe it as compact but very dense and report improved thermal performance with no feedback fade in long sessions. Fanatec covers it with a three-year warranty.

Software

The ClubSport DD+ is updated and configured through the Windows-only Fanatec App, which delivered the free May 2026 firmware (V1.4.2.3 or later) that raised torque to 18 Nm; PlayStation users need a PC to install updates. On the wheel, Standard and Advanced Tuning Menus cover quick setup and detailed force feedback tuning on any platform. Full Fanatec SDK support gives out-of-the-box compatibility with major racing games, while FullForce effects and wheel display telemetry depend on each game's support.

Frequently asked questions

Is the ClubSport DD+ 15 Nm or 18 Nm?

It is now 18 Nm. The DD+ launched at 15 Nm, and a free firmware update in May 2026 (V1.4.2.3 or later, installed with the Fanatec App) raised its holding torque to 18 Nm with no hardware change. Fanatec says existing power supplies are kept and settings are preserved. Reviews from before mid-2026 describe it at 15 Nm.

Which consoles does the ClubSport DD+ work with?

Fanatec states it is officially licensed for PS5 and PS4 and works out of the box on Windows PC. Compatibility with other platforms depends on the steering wheel; with an Xbox-licensed Fanatec wheel it can be used on Xbox. PC compatibility is tested by Fanatec but not endorsed by Sony.

How does the ClubSport DD+ feel on PS5?

The Drive reviewed the DD+ as part of the Gran Turismo DD Extreme and found the steering precise, friction-free and weighty with punchy, accurate feedback, running 10 of the then-15 Nm. It worked with Gran Turismo 7 with little setup, though at launch the game treated it as a stronger GT DD Pro and FullForce was not yet supported.

Does the ClubSport DD+ lose strength in long races?

Fanatec designs it to hold its rated torque without derating, even at maximum force feedback in endurance races. The Drive noted improved thermal performance reducing feedback fade, and OC Racing saw no overheating or force drop on the closely related ClubSport DD after extended use.

ClubSport DD+ vs ClubSport DD vs Podium DD: which should I choose?

On Fanatec US the ClubSport DD (15 Nm, PC and Xbox) is $699.99, the DD+ (18 Nm, adds PS5/PS4) is $899.99 and the Podium DD (25 Nm, PC and Xbox, no PlayStation) is $1,199.99. SimRacingCockpit found the Podium DD only a small step over the DD+ in feel and suggests the DD+ saves $300 if 18 Nm is enough.

Is the ClubSport DD+ worth it over the Gran Turismo DD Pro?

The Drive judged that the GT DD Pro with the 8 Nm Boost Kit covers what most players need, and that the DD+ makes most sense for PlayStation owners who want high torque. On Fanatec US the GT DD Pro (8 Nm) is $599.99 and the DD+ is $899.99, now with 18 Nm after the 2026 firmware update.

What warranty does Fanatec offer on the ClubSport DD+?

Since June 3, 2025, Fanatec offers a three-year limited warranty on Fanatec-branded products bought from Fanatec or authorized retailers, plus a 30-day return window. Fanatec warns that the base is not suitable for children because of its fast movements and strong torque.

How do I update the ClubSport DD+ firmware if I play on PS5?

Firmware is installed with the Fanatec App, which runs on Windows, so the base must be connected to a PC to update, as GTPlanet notes for Fanatec's PlayStation bases. Fanatec recommends the latest update, which also brings the 18 Nm torque increase. Force feedback is then adjusted on the wheel through the Standard or Advanced Tuning Menu.
