Fanatec ClubSport DD (15 Nm)
15 Nm thermally stable direct drive base with FullForce and QR2 for PC and Xbox
Description
The Fanatec ClubSport DD is a direct drive wheel base delivering 15 Nm of holding torque. It launched at 12 Nm in late 2023; in 2026 Fanatec raised it to 15 Nm through a free firmware update with no hardware change, using refinements developed for the Podium DD.
Motor. A direct drive servo motor custom-designed in Germany for sim racing, with an optimized rotor skew angle to reduce cogging and patented FluxBarrier technology. Fanatec calls it the most thermally stable base in its class: it is passively cooled and designed to hold its rated torque without derating, even at maximum force feedback in endurance races. A contactless Hall-position sensor reads the steering angle, and rotation is adjustable up to 2520 degrees.
FullForce. Fanatec's force feedback protocol for direct drive adds low-latency, high-frequency detail effects such as engine revs and road surface, in supported games.
QR2 and build. Designed for QR2 from the ground up, with the QR electronics module integrated into the shaft and a diecast aluminum QR2 Base-Side (Type-F) preinstalled. The aluminum motor shaft and bearing seat add strength and EMI/ESD shielding, and a T-nut rail system on the sides and bottom allows adjustable hard-mounting.
Ports and compatibility. Power, USB-C, Shifter 1, Shifter 2 (sequential), Pedals, Handbrake and CAN for future peripherals. Works on Windows PC with Fanatec wheels and on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S with an Xbox-licensed Fanatec wheel. Not compatible with PlayStation; Fanatec's PlayStation-licensed version is the ClubSport DD+. ClubSport Static Shifter Paddles are not supported.
Features & highlights
Driving style
The ClubSport DD is a mid-to-high torque direct drive base for PC and Xbox racers who want consistent, fade-free force feedback inside the Fanatec ecosystem. With 15 Nm of holding torque after the 2026 firmware update, it has ample strength for GT, endurance, formula and rally driving; OC Racing found even the original 12 Nm tiring at full strength over 30 minutes and ran it around 80%. It is a strong fit for Xbox owners using Xbox-licensed Fanatec wheels and for PC drivers stepping up from a CSL DD. It is not for PlayStation players, who need the ClubSport DD+, and its weight makes it better suited to a rigid cockpit than a desk.
Build quality
The ClubSport DD uses a metal body with cooling ridges that act as a heatsink, an aluminum motor shaft with thicker walls than earlier Fanatec bases and a full aluminum bearing seat. The QR2 electronics module is integrated into the shaft, and a diecast aluminum QR2 Base-Side comes preinstalled. Reviewers report no overheating or torque drop in extended use, and OC Racing measured it at around 12.65 kg, heavier and longer than the CSL DD. Fanatec covers it with a three-year warranty.
Software
The ClubSport DD is set up through the Windows-only Fanatec App, which delivers firmware updates, including the free 2026 update that raised holding torque from 12 to 15 Nm with settings preserved. On the wheel, a Standard Tuning Menu keeps setup simple for beginners while the Advanced Tuning Menu lets enthusiasts fine-tune force feedback. Full Fanatec SDK support gives out-of-the-box compatibility with major racing games, and FullForce effects depend on each game adding support.
