Fanatec ClubSport DD Table Clamp

Adjustable metal desk clamp for ClubSport DD/DD+, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro, with inverted mode up to 40 degrees

Description

The Fanatec ClubSport DD Table Clamp is a metal desk mount designed for the side-rail system of the ClubSport DD, ClubSport DD+, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. Fanatec positions it as the next best thing to hard-mounting, while staying easy to remove.

Adjustment. The wheel base can be set anywhere from horizontal to 20 degrees. Mounted inverted, the clamp allows up to 40 degrees, aimed at truck sims; at that angle the Star Grip bolts may hit some wheels.

Mounting. Fits tables from 5 to 60 mm thick, with one clamping screw or two for extra stability. Polymer panels protect the wheel base surface during installation. Not suitable for glass tables.

In the box. Clamp base, two Star Grip bolts, two Torx bolts, four M6 bolts, two rubber stops, Torx and Allen keys, and "F" signet stickers.

Driving style

The ClubSport DD Table Clamp is for desk racers who run higher torque, such as a ClubSport DD at 15 Nm, a DD+ at 18 Nm or an 8 Nm CSL DD, and want something stiffer than a plastic clamp without building a cockpit. The adjustable 0-20 degree angle lets you match wheel height to your desk and monitor, and the 40-degree inverted mode suits flat, bus-style wheel positions in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. Fanatec describes it as delivering stability comparable to hard-mounted setups.

Best for ClubSport DD/DD+ and 8 Nm CSL DD owners racing at a sturdy desk; less suited for glass or thin, wobbly tables, or for drivers who can bolt the base to a cockpit, which will always be more rigid.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The clamp is metal, with polymer panels where it touches the wheel base and the option of one or two clamping screws to spread the load. It is much more rigid than the plastic CSL DD Table Clamp, but as with any desk clamp, overall stability is limited by the desk itself.

Software

The ClubSport DD Table Clamp is a purely mechanical mount and needs no software or drivers. The wheel base it holds is configured as usual in the Fanatec App for Windows, and the clamp works the same whether the base is used on PC, PlayStation or Xbox.

Fanatec provides a quick start guide and a video guide for installation in the product's downloads section.

Frequently asked questions

Which wheel bases work with the ClubSport DD Table Clamp?

Fanatec lists the ClubSport DD, ClubSport DD+, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. It attaches to the side-rail system those bases share; Podium bases are not supported.

What angles and table thicknesses does it support?

It fits tables from 5 to 60 mm thick. Upright, the wheel base adjusts from horizontal to 20 degrees; mounted inverted it allows up to 40 degrees, which Fanatec suggests for truck sims. At the 40-degree setting the Star Grip bolts can interfere with some wheels.

Is the ClubSport DD Table Clamp more stable than the CSL DD Table Clamp?

It is metal instead of glass fiber-reinforced plastic and can use two clamping screws, and Fanatec says it offers stability comparable to hard-mounting. Fanatec forum users report flex and loosening with the plastic CSL DD clamp at 8 Nm, which is why many prefer a metal clamp or hard-mounting for stronger setups.

Will any desk work with a table clamp?

Fanatec says the clamp is not suitable for glass tables. Forum users agree that some flex is unavoidable with any clamp and that a heavy, solid desk with a thick top and steel legs makes the biggest difference.

Is the ClubSport DD Table Clamp worth the extra cost?

It costs $134.99 on Fanatec US versus $69.99 for the CSL DD Table Clamp. The extra buys metal construction, angle adjustment and ClubSport DD/DD+ compatibility; Fanatec also sells it as a certified refurbished item at a lower price.
