Fanatec Podium DD (25 Nm)

Fanatec's 25 Nm flagship direct drive base with FullForce and an all-aluminum build

Description

The Fanatec Podium DD is Fanatec's flagship direct drive wheel base, delivering 25 Nm of holding torque (33 Nm peak overshoot), the widest dynamic range of any Fanatec base. It shares the ClubSport DD footprint but was redesigned inside, and was designed and engineered in Germany.

Motor and electronics. A second-generation direct drive servo motor with an offset segmented rotor to reduce cogging and Fanatec's patented FluxBarrier technology for efficiency and smoothness. Reinforced electronics and a new heatsink keep thermal performance stable with passive cooling, and a contactless Hall-position sensor reads the steering angle. Rotation is adjustable up to 2520 degrees.

FullForce. Fanatec's FullForce technology fuses high-fidelity vibration cues, such as engine, road surface and loss of traction, with the core force feedback signal. It depends on developer support in each game.

Build and mounting. Fully aluminum casing, motor shaft and front and rear bearing seats, with diecast aluminum covers and diamond-cut logos. The anodized body's cooling fins double as a T-nut rail system on the sides and bottom. A 10 cm shaft extension is included to place a monitor between base and wheel, and the QR2 Base-Side (Type-F) comes preinstalled.

Ports and compatibility. Power, USB-C, Shifter 1, Shifter 2 (sequential), Pedals, Handbrake and a CAN port for future peripherals. Works on Windows PC with any Fanatec steering wheel or hub, and on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S with an Xbox-licensed Fanatec wheel. It is not compatible with PlayStation and cannot be upgraded to be.

Driving style

The Podium DD is aimed at experienced PC and Xbox sim racers already invested in Fanatec wheels who want the strongest base in the ecosystem. Its 25 Nm of holding torque leaves plenty of headroom, and reviewers ran it well below maximum (around 11 Nm) with clean, linear, clip-free feedback in iRacing, Assetto Corsa, ACC and Le Mans Ultimate. It suits GT, endurance and formula racing on a rigid cockpit, and the included shaft extension helps monitor-behind-wheel setups. It is not for PlayStation players, budget buyers or compact desk setups, and reviewers note the step up over the 18 Nm ClubSport DD+ is small for most drivers.

Build quality

Premium build

Fanatec built the Podium DD around a fully aluminum casing, aluminum motor shaft and aluminum front and rear bearing seats, with diecast front and rear covers and diamond-cut logos. The anodized body's cooling fins double as the T-nut mounting rails, and reinforced electronics with a new heatsink keep the 25 Nm rating stable without a fan. Reviewers describe it as solid and cool-running with no heat-related fade, though it is large for compact rigs and mounting bolts for the rails are not included. Fanatec covers it with a three-year warranty.

Software

The Podium DD is managed through the Windows-only Fanatec App, which handles firmware updates and up to five tuning profiles that can be assigned per game or per car. On the wheel, a Standard Tuning Menu gets beginners going while the Advanced Tuning Menu exposes detailed force feedback settings. A compatibility mode lets the base appear as a ClubSport Wheel Base V2.5 in games that do not recognize it. FullForce effects depend on developer support, and Fanatec released several firmware updates during 2026 in response to feedback about the base's feel.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Fanatec Podium DD work on PlayStation?

No. Fanatec states the Podium DD is not compatible with any PlayStation console and cannot be upgraded to achieve compatibility. It works on Windows PC with any Fanatec steering wheel or hub, and on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S when used with an Xbox-licensed Fanatec steering wheel. For PS5, Fanatec's strongest licensed base is the 18 Nm ClubSport DD+.

How do I mount the Podium DD?

The anodized aluminum body has a T-nut rail system on the sides and bottom, and four T-nuts are included; reviewers note the M6 mounting bolts are not. Fanatec lists the Podium Mounting Brackets, ClubSport DD Table Clamp and ClubSport Table Clamp V2 as compatible. A 10 cm shaft extension is included for placing a monitor between base and wheel, and its installation is optional.

How does the Podium DD's force feedback feel?

OC Racing ran it at about 11 Nm and found the force feedback clean, detailed, linear and predictable with no clipping, needing little tuning in iRacing, Assetto Corsa, ACC and LMU. SimRacingCockpit's roundup reports clean, precise feedback without heat-related fade. OC Racing also notes FullForce can feel exaggerated at high settings and needs tuning.

Were there firmware or force feedback complaints about the Podium DD?

Yes. SimRacingCockpit reports that some owners in early 2026 described the feedback as filtered and dull, and that Fanatec released firmware updates through September 2026 to address it. Reactions to the updates are split, and idle vibration is still described as an open issue. Fanatec recommends installing the latest update for the best experience.

Podium DD or ClubSport DD+: which should I buy?

The ClubSport DD+ costs $899.99 on Fanatec US, delivers 18 Nm and is officially licensed for PS5 and PS4; the Podium DD costs $1,199.99, delivers 25 Nm and works only on PC and Xbox. Reviewers found the Podium DD's feel only a small step over the DD+, and OC Racing suggests most sim racers would be happy with a ClubSport base.

Is the Podium DD worth $1,199.99?

OC Racing calls it a strong, well-rounded flagship but notes it is priced above Moza and Simagic rivals, with the included shaft extension adding some value. SimRacingCockpit argues that good direct drive bases converge above roughly 15 Nm, so the extra cost over an 18 Nm base buys less and less, and suggests the DD+ saves $300 if 18 Nm is enough.

What warranty does Fanatec offer on the Podium DD?

Since June 3, 2025, Fanatec offers a three-year limited warranty on Fanatec-branded products bought from Fanatec or authorized retailers, plus a 30-day return window. Fanatec warns that the Podium DD is intended for advanced users because of its fast movements and strong torque, and asks owners to read the safety instructions.

Which games support FullForce on the Podium DD?

Fanatec says FullForce functionality depends on developer support. SimRacingCockpit lists iRacing, Project Motor Racing and Assetto Corsa EVO as the titles using it on this base, and OC Racing counts FullForce support among the base's weaknesses because so few games use it.
