Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel R300 V2 for Xbox

300 mm Podium-grade leather rim with gold accents on the ClubSport Universal Hub V2 for Xbox

Description

The Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel R300 V2 for Xbox bundles the Podium Wheel Rim R300 with the ClubSport Universal Hub V2 for Xbox. The 300 mm rim is made of brushed, anodized aluminum, covered in premium smooth leather with gold stitching, and comes with gold anodized aluminum bolts. The rim alone weighs 775 g.

Xbox compatibility. The hub's Microsoft chip makes any compatible Fanatec base, plus connected pedals, shifters and handbrakes, work on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. On PC and other platforms the base keeps its normal specifications. Some features may not be supported on Xbox and depend on game support for the Fanatec SDK.

Who it suits. Fanatec calls 300 mm a good all-rounder for many vehicle types.

Paddles and controls. Preinstalled ClubSport Magnetic Paddle Module (3 mm aluminum plates, CNC aluminum cage, neodymium magnets) with small and large plates and spacers; no clutch paddles out of the box (upgradable to the Podium Advanced Paddle Module). 16 integrated buttons on the hub, four adjustable and detachable 3-button clusters, a 7-way FunkySwitch, a Tuning Menu button and a three-digit LED display mountable upright or flat.

Modularity. Accepts all Fanatec rims and third-party rims with 6 x 70 mm or 3 x 50 mm bolt patterns. The Podium Button Module Endurance (sold separately) fits this rim and hub, though Fanatec notes tight clearance with the smaller R300.

Compatibility. Requires a Fanatec wheel base (not included): Podium DD1/DD2, ClubSport V2/V2.5, CSL Elite bases, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. QR2 Wheel-Side included, packaged separately.

Driving style

The R300 V2 for Xbox is a 300 mm round aluminium rim in premium smooth leather with gold stitching, the size most drivers settle on as their all-rounder. It is small enough to stay quick in GT and touring cars, round enough for rally stages and pit-lane manoeuvres, and the Universal Hub supplies 16 buttons, a FunkySwitch and magnetic paddles for Forza Motorsport, Assetto Corsa Competizione and iRacing. Best for GT, touring and mixed-class all-rounders on Xbox or PC; less suited for dedicated formula racing that wants a compact D-shape and for vintage cars that want a 350 mm wheel.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The rim is aluminium at 300 mm, wrapped in premium smooth leather with gold stitching and finished with anodised aluminium gold bolts, weighing 775 g. It mounts to the ClubSport Universal Hub V2 for Xbox, an aluminium body carrying the Xbox security chip, firmware-updatable and open to any third-party 70 mm or 50 mm bolt-pattern rim. The magnetic paddle module uses a CNC-machined aluminium cage with 3 mm anodised plates; polymer is confined to the button clusters and FunkySwitch.

Software

The R300 V2 for Xbox has no driver of its own: firmware, Tuning Menu and force feedback settings run through the Fanatec wheel base it mounts to, configured in the Fanatec App for Windows PC, which also updates the base and the Universal Hub electronics. The Xbox license lives in the wheel, so it is plug-and-play on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One with any compatible Fanatec base, and it also works on PS4 and PS5 when paired with a PlayStation-licensed base; PC works with every Fanatec base. Buttons and encoders reach games through the Fanatec SDK, and SimHub can push custom telemetry to compatible displays.

Frequently asked questions

Does the ClubSport Steering Wheel R300 V2 for Xbox make my Fanatec base work on Xbox?

Yes. The ClubSport Universal Hub V2 for Xbox has a Microsoft compatibility chip, so any compatible Fanatec base (Podium DD1/DD2, ClubSport V2/V2.5, CSL Elite, CSL DD, Gran Turismo DD Pro) and its connected pedals, shifter and handbrake work on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Fanatec says hardware must run current firmware to keep Xbox compatibility.

Does it also work on PC and PlayStation?

Yes. On PC the wheel works with full functionality, and on PlayStation it works with a PlayStation-licensed Fanatec base, where features can be limited by the console and the game. Fanatec's hub comparison lists the Xbox hub as compatible with Windows PC, PlayStation (licensed base) and Xbox.

Will all buttons, LEDs and the display work on Xbox?

Not always. Fanatec says the Xbox OS limits wheels to roughly gamepad inputs, so extra buttons are either duplicates or have no function. Displays and LEDs gained SDK support in 2025 but only some games use it; the display still works for the Tuning Menu. Fanatec staff on the forum confirmed input limits are Microsoft's decision.

Does it have clutch paddles, and how do the shifters feel?

No. The ClubSport Magnetic Paddle Module has two magnetic shifters (3 mm aluminum plates, CNC aluminum cage, neodymium magnets) but no clutch paddles. Reviews describe a short, consistent, positive click without contact wear. Dual analog clutch paddles require the optional Podium Advanced Paddle Module.

Can I add the Podium Button Module Endurance?

Yes. Fanatec lists this rim and hub combination as compatible with the Podium Button Module Endurance, connected through the hub's DataPort-C. Fanatec also warns that, because of the smaller 300 mm diameter, clearance between the module and the base of the rim is tight.

How is the Xbox hub different from the regular ClubSport Universal Hub V2?

Fanatec staff explain that both share the same electronics, magnetic shifters and quick release; the Xbox version adds an authentication chip and Xbox-style button caps (generic racing caps are also included), and its top buttons carry Xbox symbols. If you never use Xbox, the non-Xbox hub does the same job.

What warranty does Fanatec offer on this wheel?

Since June 3, 2025, Fanatec offers a three-year limited warranty on Fanatec-branded products bought from Fanatec or authorized retailers, plus a 30-day return window. Items in a bundle are covered individually, and wear, misuse or unauthorized modifications are excluded.

Is the bundle good value compared with buying the Xbox hub alone?

Fanatec US lists this bundle at $534.99 (regular $589.98), while the ClubSport Universal Hub V2 for Xbox alone is $399.99. The bundle adds the R300 rim and QR2 Wheel-Side for a modest difference; reviewers suggest the hub alone mainly makes sense if you already own a rim.

How do I adjust settings and keep the firmware up to date?

Press the Tuning button and use the FunkySwitch to change force feedback and hardware settings on the 3-digit display, which works on every platform including Xbox. Firmware is updated through the Fanatec driver on PC; Fanatec notes that current firmware is required to maintain Xbox compatibility.
