Fanatec ClubSport Static Shifter Paddles

Base-mounted fixed paddles for drifting and rally

Description

The Fanatec ClubSport Static Shifter Paddles mount to the wheel base instead of the wheel, so the paddles stay in the same place no matter how far you turn the rim. Fanatec designed them for rally and drifting with a round wheel, where you make big, fast steering movements.

Adjustability. Width, depth and height of the paddle position are adjustable for any rim size or shape, and paddle travel is adjustable too. They attach and detach quickly, so you can remove them when switching to a formula wheel.

Build. Full-metal construction in CNC-machined, anodized aluminum with highly durable switches. They work in parallel with other shifters such as the ClubSport Shifter SQ.

Compatibility. CSL Elite V1/V1.1/+, ClubSport Wheel Base V1/V2/V2.5, Podium DD1/DD2/DD1 PS4, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. Some wheels need their own paddles removed to avoid collisions, and they should not be used together with the ClubSport Magnetic or Podium Advanced Paddle Module.

Driving style

Static paddles are made for drifting and rally, where you spin a round wheel hand over hand and wheel-mounted paddles end up upside down. They suit Assetto Corsa and CarX drifting, EA SPORTS WRC, DiRT Rally 2.0 and rallycross, and pair well with a round rim and a handbrake.

They fit Fanatec base owners who drift or rally and want sequential shifting at any steering angle. Best for drift and rally; less suited for formula and GT racing, where Fanatec recommends wheel-mounted magnetic paddles.

Build quality

Mid-range build

Full-metal CNC-machined, anodized aluminum with durable switches. The holder adjusts in three axes plus paddle travel. It is a simple, robust ClubSport accessory without premium features like magnetic action.

Software

The static paddles have no software of their own. They connect through the Fanatec wheel base, where button mapping and calibration are handled in the Fanatec App on Windows PC or in each game.

Platform support follows the wheel base and wheel: on consoles they work as the base's paddle inputs where the game supports them.

Frequently asked questions

Which wheel bases do the Static Shifter Paddles fit?

Fanatec lists the CSL Elite V1/V1.1/+, ClubSport Wheel Base V1/V2/V2.5, Podium DD1/DD2/DD1 PS4, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro, with steering wheels or hubs that have removable paddles.

Do they work with the ClubSport DD, DD+ or Podium DD?

These bases are not on the product page's compatibility list. Fanatec's comparison article says the static paddles only fit older bases (CSL Elite, CSW V1/V2/V2.5, Podium DD1/DD2, CSL DD and GT DD Pro), so check with Fanatec before buying for a newer base.

Can I keep my wheel's paddles?

On some wheels the paddles must be removed to avoid collisions. Fanatec also says not to use the Magnetic or Podium Advanced Paddle Module while static paddles are installed.

Static paddles or magnetic paddles?

Fanatec positions static paddles, fixed behind the wheel, for rally and drifting where hands move around the rim, and magnetic wheel-mounted paddles for formula and GT racing. They are not direct competitors.

Can I adjust them to my rim?

Yes. Width, depth and height of the paddle position are adjustable for any rim size or shape, and paddle travel is adjustable as well.

How durable are they?

Fanatec uses full-metal CNC-machined, anodized aluminum with highly durable switches.

Can I use them with a sequential shifter?

Yes. They work in parallel with other attached shifters like the ClubSport Shifter SQ, and buttons are mapped in the game or Fanatec App.

Is it worth it?

At $59.99 in the US it is an inexpensive add-on if you drift or rally regularly; for formula and GT racing, wheel-mounted paddles remain the better choice.
