Fanatec ClubSport Shifter SQ V1.5
Full-metal 7+R H-pattern and sequential shifter with ClubSport USB Adapter included
Description
The Fanatec ClubSport Shifter SQ V1.5 is a full-metal shifter that combines a 7-speed H-pattern and a sequential mode in one unit.
H-pattern. Seven gears plus reverse, Porsche 911 style. Reverse and 7th gear are locked: you press the lever down to engage them, which prevents wrong shifts.
Sequential. Switch to a sequential mode with strong haptic feedback using a slider, without unplugging, rebooting, removing the knob or using tools.
Knobs and feel. Two titan grey polished anodized aluminum knobs (H and sequential) are included, the knob mount follows popular automotive standards, and shift feel and resistance are adjustable.
Mounting. Mounting points on all four sides and the bottom; a drilling template is available for third-party cockpits.
Connection. Works with all Fanatec wheel bases and racing wheels, and on consoles in games that support shifters when connected through a Fanatec base. The included ClubSport USB Adapter lets you use it standalone on PC with any brand of wheel (not on consoles). The 7th gear is only detected when connected to a ClubSport or CSL Elite wheel base or the ClubSport USB Adapter.
Features & highlights
Driving style
The ClubSport Shifter SQ V1.5 suits drivers of manual road cars, classics, touring cars and rally cars who want a realistic H-pattern, plus anyone who uses a sequential stick in rally, drift or touring titles, since one unit covers both. Laurence Dusoswa calls it the best H-pattern shifter for the consumer market with no misshifts over weeks of testing, though he misses active feedback; VirtualR calls it nearly flawless and better built than the Thrustmaster TH8A. Best for H-pattern and rally enthusiasts in a Fanatec setup or on PC, less suited for console players without a Fanatec base or formula drivers who only use paddles.
Build quality
The shifter is made entirely of metal, with a heavy casing and polished anodized aluminum knobs. VirtualR says no corners were cut on build quality and describes it as extremely rugged, and Laurence Dusoswa says its build far surpasses other shifters he has tried, although the design dates back to 2013 and it is large and heavy.
Software
Connected to a Fanatec wheel base, the shifter is calibrated in the Windows-only Fanatec App under the Shifter tab (H-Shifter Calibration, done in H-pattern mode), and the Firmware Manager prompts recalibration after base firmware updates; without Windows, calibration can be started with a button combination on the wheel. With the ClubSport USB Adapter it appears as its own device on PC and can be used with any wheel brand in games that accept a second controller; it needs drivers installed to stop registering constant input.
