Fanatec GT Cockpit Shifter Mount - Left (Black)

Left-side T-slot shifter and handbrake mount for the ClubSport GT Cockpit, in black

Description

The Fanatec GT Cockpit Shifter Mount - Left (Black) adds a shifter and/or handbrake position on the left side of the ClubSport GT Cockpit, for right-hand-drive layouts or a left-side handbrake.

Design. An 810 mm extruded aluminum tube with three T-slots (M6x1 and 1/4-20 T-nuts) clamps to the cockpit side rail. It comes with a 250 x 127 mm shifter plate and a 230 x 65 mm extension plate for a second device such as a handbrake.

Compatibility. Fanatec shifters; ClubSport Handbrake V1/V1.5 (the Handbrake V2 must mount to the side of a ClubSport Shifter, or needs extra drilled holes to mount alone); most third-party under-mounted shifters and handbrakes, with possible modifications.

More uses. The T-slots also take Elgato Stream Decks, cameras, mics, button boxes and flight sim hardware, and the tube is the required base for the GT Cockpit Keyboard Tray. Left and right kits are sold separately.

Driving style

The left GT Cockpit Shifter Mount is for ClubSport GT Cockpit owners who want an H-pattern or sequential shifter, a handbrake, or both on the left: right-hand-drive car setups, rally drivers who want the handbrake on the left, or flight-sim users adding a throttle. It suits classic and touring cars in Assetto Corsa, rally in EA SPORTS WRC and Richard Burns Rally, and drift. OC Racing found it stable but overpriced, with slight flex only under extreme side-to-side force; Boosted Media reported significant flex with Fanatec's load cell handbrake.

Best for H-pattern and sequential shifting and light handbrake use on a GT Cockpit; less suited for very hard rally handbrake pulls, where the flex reported by reviewers matters most.

Build quality

Mid-range build

An 810 mm extruded aluminum T-slot tube with steel clamps, shifter plate and extension plate, finished in black powder coat. OC Racing calls it stable but overpriced, with slight flex under extreme force; Boosted Media reports significant flex under load with a load cell handbrake and calls it below what the price suggests.

Software

The Shifter Mount is a passive mount and needs no software. The shifter or handbrake you install is configured through the Fanatec App on Windows PC or connects through the wheel base on console.

Frequently asked questions

Can I mount a shifter and a handbrake on the GT Cockpit Shifter Mount?

Yes. The kit includes a 250 x 127 mm shifter plate plus a 230 x 65 mm extension plate for a second device. The ClubSport Handbrake V1/V1.5 mounts directly; the Handbrake V2 must attach to the side of a ClubSport Shifter, or needs extra holes drilled to mount alone.

Does the GT Shifter Mount flex?

Reviews differ. OC Racing found it stable in normal use with slight flex only under extreme side-to-side force. Boosted Media reported significant flex under load, especially with Fanatec's load cell handbrake, and called it a disappointment for the price.

Does it work with third-party shifters and handbrakes?

Fanatec lists compatibility with most third-party under-mounted shifters and handbrakes, but advises checking compatibility because some modifications may be necessary.

Do I need the Shifter Mount for the GT Cockpit Keyboard Tray?

Yes. The Keyboard Tray is only compatible when combined with a GT Cockpit Shifter Mount on either side.

Left or right Shifter Mount: which do I need?

Choose the side where you want the shifter or handbrake. Left suits right-hand-drive layouts or a left-hand handbrake; left and right kits are sold separately and you can run both.

Is the GT Shifter Mount worth $179.99?

OC Racing calls it stable but overpriced for what it offers, and Boosted Media says its rigidity is below what the price suggests. Its strengths are room for two devices and the T-slot tube for extra accessories.

Does the Shifter Mount need software?

No. The mount is mechanical; the shifter or handbrake is configured in the Fanatec App on PC.
