Fanatec ClubSport USB Adapter

Connect Fanatec pedals, shifters or handbrakes directly to a PC via USB

Description

The Fanatec ClubSport USB Adapter connects Fanatec peripherals directly to a PC via USB, so they work with almost any modern racing sim, even with a non-Fanatec wheel.

Uses. Run the ClubSport Shifter (sequential and H-pattern) with any wheel, use the ClubSport Handbrake without another Fanatec product, or connect analog Fanatec pedals (CSL Pedals, CSL Elite Pedals without load cell) directly by USB. It also activates 7th gear in all configurations.

Modes. It ships with ClubSport Shifter firmware. For pedals or a handbrake, switch the adapter's mode in the Fanatec App ("Change mode of USB adapter"). Shifter calibration runs in the driver on PC.

Compatibility. ClubSport Shifter, ClubSport Shifter SQ, ClubSport Handbrake, CSL Elite Pedals (analog) and CSL Pedals. PC only; devices connected through the adapter do not work on consoles.

Driving style

The USB Adapter is for PC racers who want Fanatec pedals, a ClubSport shifter or handbrake as standalone devices, for example with a non-Fanatec direct drive base, or to plug a handbrake straight into the PC for drifting and rally. It works in Assetto Corsa, iRacing, rFactor 2, ACC and any sim that supports multiple input devices.

It suits PC drivers who mix brands or want peripherals independent of the wheel base. Best for mixed-brand PC rigs; not useful on consoles.

Build quality

Entry-level build

A compact adapter with firmware-updatable electronics. It is a simple connectivity accessory rather than a premium hardware product.

Software

The adapter ships in ClubSport Shifter mode. For CSL Pedals or a ClubSport Handbrake, open the Fanatec App on Windows, select the USB device and use "Change mode of USB adapter" to flash the right firmware. Fanatec recommends a USB 2 port directly on the motherboard and avoiding hubs or extension cables.

Shifter calibration is done in the Fanatec driver. It is PC only; consoles are not supported.

Frequently asked questions

Which Fanatec devices work with the USB Adapter?

ClubSport Shifter, ClubSport Shifter SQ, ClubSport Handbrake, CSL Pedals and CSL Elite Pedals (analog, without the load cell kit).

Does it work on PlayStation or Xbox?

No. It is for PC. Fanatec notes CSL Pedals connected through the USB Adapter will not work on consoles; use a Fanatec wheel base for console play.

My device is detected but has no input. What should I do?

The adapter is probably in the wrong mode; it ships in ClubSport Shifter mode. In the Fanatec App, select the USB device, click 'Change mode of USB adapter', pick your device and update. Use a USB 2 port on the motherboard, without hubs or extensions.

Can I use Fanatec pedals with another brand's wheel base?

On PC, yes. The adapter makes CSL Pedals a standalone USB device that any sim supporting multiple input devices can read, alongside a wheel from another brand.

Do I need it if I have the CSL Pedals Load Cell Kit?

No. The Load Cell Kit upgrades the pedal electronics and adds its own USB port.

Does it change the shifter's behavior?

It activates 7th gear in all configurations and supports both H-pattern and sequential modes of the ClubSport Shifter. Calibration runs in the Fanatec driver on PC.

What if it still doesn't work?

After updating the mode, reopen the Fanatec App and test the device. If it still fails, Fanatec recommends opening a support ticket.

Can one adapter run several devices?

Each adapter runs in one mode at a time (shifter, pedals or handbrake), so using several Fanatec peripherals by USB requires switching modes or one adapter per device.
