Fanatec CSL Pedals

Entry-level 2-pedal steel set with Hall sensors and a modular upgrade path

Description

The Fanatec CSL Pedals are Fanatec's entry-level pedal set: a throttle and brake made of steel, each read by a contactless 12-bit Hall sensor. The brake uses a PU foam damper for progressive resistance.

Modular. Each pedal mounts individually on the heel plate, and the set can grow with the Clutch Kit, the Load Cell Kit (which turns the original brake into a clutch) and optional aluminum pedal faces.

Connection. The CSL Pedals have no USB port: they connect by RJ12 (cable about 2 m) to a Fanatec wheel base and work on the platforms that base supports. For standalone PC use you need the ClubSport USB Adapter, or the Load Cell Kit, which adds USB.

Driving style

The CSL Pedals are a first step for drivers moving off a gamepad or bundled plastic pedals who race mostly with automatic or paddle-shift cars in GT, touring and arcade-sim titles. SimRaceReviews calls the 2-pedal set a fantastic option at its price, with a smooth Hall-sensor throttle, but finds the stock brake soft and easy to press, and recommends the Load Cell Kit as a marked improvement. Best for beginners on a Fanatec base who want a cheap start with an upgrade path, less suited for drivers who already want load cell braking consistency or a clutch.

Build quality

Entry-level build

The pedals use bare steel arms on a black heel plate with 11 pre-drilled holes for positioning, contactless Hall sensors and plastic pedal faces as standard. SimRaceReviews reports no durability problems over several months and several rigs, apart from a throttle squeak fixed with lubricant, but notes that no baseplate is included.

Software

The CSL Pedals have no USB of their own, so they are calibrated and tuned through the connected Fanatec wheel base, either in the base's Tuning Menu or in the Windows-only Fanatec App on PC. On consoles they work through a PlayStation- or Xbox-compatible Fanatec base. With the ClubSport USB Adapter they appear as a separate USB device on PC.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the CSL Pedals on PC without a Fanatec wheel base?

Not directly: the CSL Pedals have no USB port and connect by RJ12 to a Fanatec wheel base. For standalone PC use you need the ClubSport USB Adapter, or you can add the Load Cell Kit, which provides a USB connection.

Do the CSL Pedals work on PlayStation and Xbox?

Yes, through a Fanatec wheel base: they work on the consoles that base supports (PlayStation via a PlayStation-licensed base such as the Gran Turismo DD Pro, Xbox via an Xbox-licensed Fanatec wheel). SimRaceReviews lists PC, PS4/PS5 and Xbox compatibility depending on the base.

How does the stock CSL Pedals brake feel?

The stock brake uses a Hall sensor with a PU foam damper and a metal stop for full pressure. SimRaceReviews finds it too soft and easy to press, especially at the start of travel, and calls the Load Cell Kit a marked improvement. The Hall-sensor throttle is described as smooth and quiet.

Are the CSL Pedals durable?

SimRaceReviews reports no durability problems over several months across multiple rigs; the throttle developed a squeak after about a month, solved by lubricating the hinge. Unlike the older CSL Elite pedals, the Hall sensors are contactless, so they avoid potentiometer wear.

CSL Pedals or CSL Elite Pedals V2?

The CSL Pedals are a 2-pedal steel entry set with a Hall-sensor brake; the CSL Elite Pedals V2 are a 3-pedal aluminum set with a 90 kg load cell brake and USB. Reviewers rate the Elite V2 brake highly for its price, while the CSL Pedals win on cost and can be upgraded with the Load Cell Kit later.

What warranty do the CSL Pedals have?

Fanatec updated its warranty and return policies in 2025, as reported by GTPlanet. Coverage depends on the regional store, so check the current terms on the Fanatec product page for your region before purchase.

Are the CSL Pedals worth buying, or should I get the CSL Pedals LC?

SimRaceReviews calls the 2-pedal set a fantastic option at its price but recommends the load cell upgrade because the stock brake is soft. On October 13, 2026 Fanatec US listed the CSL Pedals at $139.99 and the CSL Pedals LC bundle at $239.98; buying the bundle up front adds the clutch (converted brake) and USB.

How do I calibrate or adjust the CSL Pedals?

Because they connect through the wheel base, calibration and pedal settings are handled by the Fanatec base: in its Tuning Menu or in the Fanatec App on Windows. Physically, each pedal can be repositioned on the heel plate's pre-drilled holes and the pedal faces adjust vertically.
