Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel R330 V2

330 mm round aluminum and leather wheel on the ClubSport Universal Hub V2

Description

The Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel R330 V2 is a modular bundle that pairs the ClubSport Wheel Rim R330 with the ClubSport Universal Hub V2. The rim is a 330 mm, fully round, three-spoke design in brushed and anodized aluminum, wrapped in genuine smooth leather with a neon blue center strip and neon orange stitching. The rim alone weighs 860 g.

Who it suits. Fanatec describes it as a multi-purpose, fully round wheel. Large round rims like this are a common choice for oval, rally, drift and road cars. For an exact match to the 350 mm diameter of the discontinued Podium Steering Wheel NASCAR, see the ClubSport Steering Wheel Classic 2 V2.

Paddles. The preinstalled ClubSport Magnetic Paddle Module uses 3 mm black anodized aluminum paddle plates in a CNC-machined aluminum cage with neodymium magnets. Small and large plates and spacers are included to suit different rim diameters. There are no clutch paddles out of the box; the hub can be upgraded with the Podium Advanced Paddle Module.

Controls and display. The hub has 16 buttons, including four detachable clusters of three buttons each (a fifth cluster can be added), a 7-way FunkySwitch (directional, push and rotary encoder) and a Tuning Menu button. A three-digit LED display shows Tuning Menu settings and telemetry in supported games, and it can be mounted upright or flat. Paddles, clusters and the FunkySwitch can be removed to save weight or for a cleaner look.

Modularity. The Universal Hub V2 accepts all Fanatec rims and third-party rims with a 6 x 70 mm or 3 x 50 mm bolt pattern (for example Sparco, MOMO or OMP). A DataPort-C connector supports the Podium Button Module Endurance (sold separately; it does not fit the R330 rim). The electronics are firmware-updatable.

Compatibility. Requires a Fanatec wheel base (not included). Fanatec lists Podium DD1, Podium DD2, ClubSport V2/V2.5, CSL Elite bases, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. Works on Windows PC and on PlayStation with a PlayStation-licensed base, where functionality may be limited by the console and the game. It is not compatible with Xbox. The QR2 Wheel-Side is included in the box, packaged separately.

Driving style

The R330 V2 is a 330 mm round aluminium rim in genuine smooth leather with a neon blue centre strip, a classic touring-car size that suits road cars, GT racers and long sessions where a slightly larger wheel feels more natural. The three-spoke aluminium structure keeps weight at 860 g so force feedback stays readable, while the Universal Hub brings 16 buttons, a FunkySwitch and magnetic paddles to Assetto Corsa, iRacing and Gran Turismo-style racing. Best for GT, touring and road-car racing; less suited for formula cars, drifting and esports sprints that reward a smaller, faster rim.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The three-spoke rim is aluminium at 330 mm, covered in genuine smooth leather with a neon blue centre strip and neon orange stitching, and weighs 860 g. It bolts to the aluminium ClubSport Universal Hub V2, firmware-updatable and compatible with third-party rims using the 6 x 70 mm or 3 x 50 mm bolt pattern. The magnetic paddle module has a CNC-machined aluminium cage, 3 mm anodised plates and neodymium magnets; the only polymer parts are the removable button clusters and FunkySwitch.

Software

The R330 V2 has no driver of its own: firmware, Tuning Menu and force feedback settings run through the Fanatec wheel base it mounts to, configured in the Fanatec App for Windows PC, which also updates the base and the firmware-updatable Universal Hub. On console, compatibility follows the base: pair it with a PlayStation-licensed base for PS4 and PS5 button layouts, while PC works with any Fanatec base; it is not Xbox-licensed, so Xbox requires one of the Xbox wheels instead. Inputs reach games through the Fanatec SDK, and SimHub can push custom telemetry to compatible displays.

Frequently asked questions

Is the R330 V2 a good alternative to the discontinued Podium Steering Wheel NASCAR?

Fanatec no longer lists the Podium Steering Wheel NASCAR, a 350 mm round aluminum rim with Alcantara grips on a Podium Hub (QR1), sold without buttons or paddles. The R330 V2 is a similar large round aluminum rim but slightly smaller at 330 mm and wrapped in leather. For the same 350 mm diameter, the ClubSport Classic 2 V2 is the closer match. Both ship on the Universal Hub V2 with paddles, buttons and a QR2.

Which Fanatec wheel bases work with the ClubSport Steering Wheel R330 V2?

Fanatec lists Podium DD1, Podium DD2, Podium DD1 PS4, ClubSport Wheel Base V2/V2.5, CSL Elite (including V1.1 and the PS4-licensed version), CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. No base is included. The QR2 Wheel-Side comes in the box, packaged separately.

Does the R330 V2 work on Xbox or PlayStation?

Fanatec lists it as not compatible with Xbox. On PlayStation it works through a PlayStation-licensed Fanatec base, but Fanatec notes that console functionality may be limited and that full functionality is only guaranteed on Windows PC, depending on the game.

Is a 330 mm rim too large for a low-torque wheel base?

A larger rim adds leverage, so the same force feels lighter at the grip. On r/Fanatec, several users suggest staying at around 300 mm or smaller on 5-8 Nm bases to keep force feedback detail, while larger round rims are common on stronger direct drive bases. This is a preference, not a hard limit.

What kind of racing is a large round wheel like the R330 best for?

Fanatec recommends round wheels for rally, drifting and road or open-world driving. On the Fanatec forum, users note that many sim racers keep one round wheel for rally, dirt and oval racing and a GT or formula wheel for everything else. Small flat-bottom wheels suit cars with quicker steering racks.

How does the R330 V2 compare with the Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel RS?

Both are fully round ClubSport wheels with the same type of magnetic aluminum paddles and a metal QR2. The RS is a one-piece 320 mm wheel with a RevLED bar and an analog joystick. The R330 V2 is a modular 330 mm rim on the Universal Hub V2, which can later take other Fanatec or third-party rims. In the US store the RS lists at $369.99 and the R330 V2 bundle at $514.99.

Does the leather on the R330 hold up better than Alcantara?

The R330 uses genuine smooth leather. On the Fanatec forum, users choosing round rims point out that leather resists wear better than Alcantara. Leather can still wear with heavy use, so gloves or regular cleaning help.

Can I use the Universal Hub V2 from this bundle with other rims?

Yes. Fanatec states the hub works with all Fanatec rims and with third-party rims that use a 6 x 70 mm or 3 x 50 mm bolt pattern, such as Sparco, MOMO or OMP. On r/Fanatec, a Universal Hub V2 with a third-party round rim is one of the most common suggestions for a round-wheel setup.

How do I update the firmware and change settings?

Install the latest Fanatec driver, connect the wheel base to a PC by USB in PC mode and open the Fanatec Control Panel or app to update the hub firmware. Force feedback and hardware settings can also be changed on the wheel through the Tuning Menu shown on the LED display.

Is the bundle cheaper than buying the R330 rim and hub separately?

In the US store the bundle sells for $514.99 against a combined list price of $609.97 for its parts. In the EU store it is €429.95 against €559.85. Forum users note that hub, rim and button bundles usually save $50-100 or more over separate purchases, so check what is included before buying.

Who handles the warranty for the ClubSport Steering Wheel R330 V2?

The Universal Hub V2 manual states that the warranty is provided by CORSAIR MEMORY, Inc. and refers to the terms and conditions on fanatec.com.
