Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel Flat 2 V2

275 mm flat polished aluminum wheel in red suede on the ClubSport Universal Hub V2

Description

The Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel Flat 2 V2 bundles the ClubSport Wheel Rim Flat 2 with the ClubSport Universal Hub V2. The three-spoke rim measures 275 mm, is made of polished, anodized silver aluminum and covered in red high-quality synthetic suede, a color scheme Fanatec describes as a nod to classic Formula cars. The rim alone weighs 692 g.

Who it suits. Its compact size and low weight make it a fit for open-wheel racing and any car that needs fast steering inputs.

Paddles. Preinstalled ClubSport Magnetic Paddle Module with 3 mm black anodized aluminum plates, CNC-machined aluminum cage and neodymium magnets; small and large plates and spacers included. No clutch paddles out of the box; upgradable to the Podium Advanced Paddle Module.

Controls and display. 16 integrated buttons on top of the hub, four adjustable and detachable 3-button clusters (a fifth can be added), a 7-way FunkySwitch, a Tuning Menu button and a three-digit LED display for settings and telemetry, mountable upright or flat.

Modularity. The hub accepts all Fanatec rims and third-party rims with 6 x 70 mm or 3 x 50 mm bolt patterns (Sparco, MOMO, OMP). DataPort-C supports the Podium Button Module Endurance (sold separately; it does not fit the Flat 2 rim). Firmware-updatable electronics.

Compatibility. Requires a Fanatec wheel base (not included): Podium DD1/DD2, ClubSport V2/V2.5, CSL Elite bases, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. Windows PC and PlayStation with a PlayStation-licensed base (functionality may be limited). Not compatible with Xbox. QR2 Wheel-Side included, packaged separately.

Driving style

Flat 2 V2 shares the compact 275 mm aluminium formula shape of Flat 1 but wraps it in distinctive red synthetic suede on a polished silver rim, giving a grippy, high-contrast wheel for open-wheel racing. At 692 g it is light enough to keep force feedback detail intact, and the magnetic paddles on the ClubSport Universal Hub deliver a precise shift in the F1 series, iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione and formula-series mods. The flat top keeps your sightline to the virtual dash clear. Best for formula and GT3 sprint racing with a small, fast rim; less suited for rally, drifting or anything needing a full round wheel for hand-over-hand steering.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The rim itself is polished, anodised aluminium with a red synthetic suede wrap and genuine leather accents, mounted on the aluminium ClubSport Universal Hub V2. The hub is firmware-updatable, accepts any 6 x 70 mm or 3 x 50 mm bolt-pattern rim, and carries a CNC-machined aluminium magnetic paddle module with 3 mm anodised plates and neodymium magnets. The parts that flex on lesser wheels, the paddle cage and hub body, are metal here; only the removable button clusters and FunkySwitch are polymer, which keeps the wheel modular without feeling cheap.

Software

The Flat 2 V2 is driven entirely through the Fanatec base it mounts to: firmware, Tuning Menu and force feedback settings are managed in the Fanatec App for Windows PC, which also updates the base and the Universal Hub. On console, compatibility follows the base: pair it with a PlayStation-licensed base for PS4 and PS5, while PC works with any Fanatec base; it is not Xbox-licensed, so Xbox needs one of the Xbox wheels instead. Buttons, encoders and paddles reach games through the Fanatec SDK in supported titles, and SimHub can push custom telemetry layouts to compatible displays.

Frequently asked questions

Which wheel bases and consoles does the ClubSport Steering Wheel Flat 2 V2 work with?

It needs a Fanatec wheel base. Fanatec lists Podium DD1/DD2, ClubSport V2/V2.5, CSL Elite bases, CSL DD and Gran Turismo DD Pro. It works on Windows PC and on PlayStation with a PlayStation-licensed base (functionality can be limited by the game). It is not Xbox compatible; Fanatec sells a separate Flat 2 V2 for Xbox.

Is a 275 mm wheel too small for GT or road cars?

Fanatec positions the Flat 2 for open-wheel racing and cars that need fast steering inputs. A smaller rim needs less hand travel per degree of rotation, which suits formula and prototype cars, but it also gives you less leverage against strong force feedback. For GT, road cars or drifting, 320-330 mm rims are the more common choice; the modular hub lets you add a larger rim later.

Does it have clutch paddles, and how do the shifters feel?

No. The ClubSport Magnetic Paddle Module has two magnetic shifters (3 mm aluminum plates, CNC aluminum cage, neodymium magnets) but no clutch paddles. Reviews describe a short, consistent, positive click without contact wear. Dual analog clutch paddles require the optional Podium Advanced Paddle Module.

Do all the hub buttons work in Gran Turismo 7 on PS5?

Fanatec only guarantees full functionality on PC; on PlayStation it depends on the console and the game. On the Fanatec forum, a GT7 user reported that the FunkySwitch could not be configured in-game and its push acts as the PS button, while Fanatec staff pointed out the top buttons are dedicated inputs. Expect fewer mappable functions on PS5 than on PC.

How does it compare with the CSL Steering Wheel Flat 2 V2?

Both use the same style of 275 mm Flat 2 rim, but the CSL version sits on the cheaper CSL Universal Hub V2 with an expanding slider and fixed button islands, while the ClubSport version uses removable button clusters, a CNC aluminum magnetic paddle module and a full metal QR2. Fanatec US lists them at $264.99 and $514.99 respectively.

What warranty does Fanatec offer on this wheel?

Since June 3, 2025, Fanatec offers a three-year limited warranty on Fanatec-branded products bought from Fanatec or authorized retailers, plus a 30-day return window. Items in a bundle are covered individually, and wear, misuse or unauthorized modifications are excluded.

Is the bundle better value than buying the hub and rim separately?

Fanatec US lists the bundle at $514.99 (regular $609.97). The ClubSport Universal Hub V2 + QR2 alone sells for $369.99. Reviewers suggest the hub alone only makes sense if you already own a rim or want a specific third-party one.

How do I adjust force feedback and update the firmware?

Press the Tuning button and use the FunkySwitch to change force feedback and other settings on the 3-digit display. The hub electronics are firmware-updatable through the Fanatec driver on PC, as Fanatec staff confirmed on the forum for the V2 hubs.
