Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Rim GT

33 cm aluminum GT rim in genuine suede for Fanatec hubs

Description

The Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Rim GT is a 33 cm round rim modeled on the wheels used in many GT supercars. It has the size and grip Fanatec describes as ideal for GT racing.

Materials. The three-spoke rim is brushed and anodized aluminum covered in genuine suede leather, and weighs 979 g. Fanatec recommends driving with gloves to protect the suede.

Mounting. It is designed to fit the CSL Universal Hub, ClubSport Universal Hub (all versions) and Podium Hub with no drilling. The rim has no electronics: a hub is required, and buttons, paddles and console compatibility come from the hub and wheel base.

The same rim is sold pre-assembled with a ClubSport Universal Hub V2 as the ClubSport Steering Wheel GT V2.

Driving style

The ClubSport Wheel Rim GT gives a 33 cm round wheel, a size that suits GT3, GT4, touring and road cars in Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing, Le Mans Ultimate, Gran Turismo 7 and Forza Motorsport. The round shape also works for hand-over-hand steering in road cars and casual drifting, and the suede grip helps during long stints.

It fits owners of a Fanatec hub who want a GT-sized rim to swap in for GT and road racing. Best for GT and road car racing; less suited for formula cars that favor smaller flat-bottom rims, and for drivers who dislike wearing gloves on suede.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The rim uses brushed, anodized aluminum spokes and a genuine suede leather wrap, a step above plastic-bodied entry wheels. Construction is simple and sturdy since there are no electronics, but long-term finish depends on care: Fanatec recommends gloves to protect the suede, and wear from gloves is not covered by warranty. It sits below Podium rims that use premium leather and official replicas.

Software

The ClubSport Wheel Rim GT has no electronics and needs no software. Buttons, paddles, displays and console licensing come from the Fanatec hub it is bolted to (CSL Universal Hub, ClubSport Universal Hub or Podium Hub) and the wheel base, set up in the Fanatec App on Windows PC.

Platform support follows the hub and base: Xbox needs an Xbox hub such as the ClubSport Universal Hub V2 for Xbox, and PlayStation needs a PlayStation-licensed base. On PC, SimHub and other tools use the hub's inputs as usual.

Frequently asked questions

Which Fanatec hubs does the ClubSport Wheel Rim GT fit?

Fanatec lists the Podium Hub, ClubSport Universal Hub (all versions) and CSL Universal Hub. It bolts on without drilling. A hub is not included and is required to use the rim.

Does it work on PC, PlayStation and Xbox?

The rim has no electronics, so platform support depends on the hub and wheel base. Fanatec says to check the specifications of the hub and base: Xbox needs an Xbox hub, and PlayStation needs a PlayStation-licensed base.

What kind of racing is the 33 cm GT rim best for?

Fanatec describes the 33 cm size as typical of GT supercars, so it suits GT, touring and road cars. Its round shape also allows hand-over-hand steering, while formula racers usually prefer smaller flat rims.

Do I need gloves with the suede rim?

Fanatec highly recommends gloves with this rim to protect the suede and your hands. Sim racers on Overtake.gg report that sweat degrades suede and Alcantara quickly, while others find gloves add wear of their own; Fanatec notes glove wear is not covered by warranty.

Is suede wear covered by the warranty?

Fanatec states that extra wear on rim materials such as leather and stitching caused by gloves is not covered under warranty. Clean only with a microfiber cloth and lukewarm water, without chemical cleaners.

ClubSport Wheel Rim GT or GT Alcantara?

Both are 33 cm three-spoke aluminum rims weighing 979 g. The GT uses genuine suede, while the GT Alcantara uses Alcantara with a lime green leather stripe and stitching. Commenters on Overtake.gg note Alcantara tends to be more durable and easier to clean than suede.

Is it cheaper to buy the rim or the complete ClubSport Steering Wheel GT V2?

The rim costs $179.99 at Fanatec US. If you already own a Fanatec hub, the rim alone is the cheaper path. Without a hub, the complete ClubSport Steering Wheel GT V2 (rim plus ClubSport Universal Hub V2) is listed at $514.99, which is usually less than buying both parts separately.

Does the rim need any software or have its own buttons?

No. It is a passive rim with no electronics. All buttons, paddles and displays come from the hub, and settings are handled through the wheel base in the Fanatec App.
