Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Rim Round 1

27 cm round leather rim inspired by 1980s Formula 1 wheels

Description

The Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Rim Round 1 is inspired by steering wheels used in Formula 1 cars of the 1980s. Its small size suits fast movements, while the round shape and smooth leather still let you spin the wheel.

Materials. Brushed, anodized aluminum rim covered in genuine smooth leather, 27 cm in diameter and 715 g.

Mounting. Designed to fit the CSL Universal Hub, ClubSport Universal Hub (all versions) and Podium Hub with no drilling. It has no electronics; a hub is required and console compatibility depends on the hub and wheel base.

Driving style

The Round 1 is a compact 27 cm rim inspired by 1980s F1 wheels. It suits historic and modern formula cars in Assetto Corsa, rFactor 2, Automobilista 2 and iRacing, and its round shape also lets you spin the wheel in road and touring cars where flat-bottom formula rims get awkward.

It fits Fanatec hub owners who want a small, quick rim with vintage style. Best for historic formula, open-wheel and sporty road cars; less suited for drifting, rally and trucks, where a larger diameter gives more leverage.

Build quality

Mid-range build

Brushed, anodized aluminum and genuine smooth leather make a simple, solid rim with no electronics. Smooth leather tolerates bare-hand use well. It is a standard ClubSport rim rather than a licensed replica or a Podium-tier part.

Software

The ClubSport Wheel Rim Round 1 has no electronics and needs no software. Buttons, paddles and console licensing come from the Fanatec hub and wheel base, configured in the Fanatec App on Windows PC.

Platform support follows the hub and base: Xbox requires an Xbox hub such as the ClubSport Universal Hub V2 for Xbox, and PlayStation requires a PlayStation-licensed base. On PC, SimHub and other tools work with the hub's inputs as usual.

Frequently asked questions

Which hubs does the ClubSport Wheel Rim Round 1 fit?

Fanatec lists the Podium Hub, ClubSport Universal Hub (all versions) and CSL Universal Hub, with no drilling needed. The hub is not included.

Does it work on consoles?

The rim has no electronics, so console support depends on the hub and base: an Xbox hub for Xbox, a PlayStation-licensed base for PlayStation. On PC it works with any Fanatec hub and base.

What does the 27 cm Round 1 feel like to drive?

Fanatec says the small rim is good for fast movements, like 1980s F1 cars, while the round shape and smooth leather still let you spin the wheel. It suits formula and sporty road cars better than drifting or trucks.

Do I need gloves with this leather rim?

Smooth leather tolerates bare hands better than suede. Sim racers on Overtake.gg mostly consider gloves optional on leather rims, and Fanatec warns gloves can wear leather and stitching faster.

Is leather wear covered by warranty?

Fanatec states that extra wear on leather and stitching caused by gloves is not covered under warranty.

Round 1 or Flat 1?

Both are compact formula-inspired rims. The Round 1 is fully round at 27 cm in smooth leather, so you can spin it. The Flat 1 is 27.5 cm with a flat bottom in suede, aimed at modern formula cars with small steering angles.

Rim alone or the ClubSport Steering Wheel Round 1 V2?

The rim costs $179.99 at Fanatec US and suits owners who already have a hub. Without a hub, the ClubSport Steering Wheel Round 1 V2 combines it with a ClubSport Universal Hub V2 and is listed at $514.99.

Does the rim need software?

No. It has no electronics; buttons and settings come from the hub and wheel base in the Fanatec App.
