Description

The Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Rim Flat 1 is designed for formula racing, where steering angles are small and inputs are fast.

Materials. Brushed, anodized aluminum rim covered in genuine suede leather, 27.5 cm in diameter and 692 g. Fanatec highly recommends gloves to protect the suede and your hands.

Mounting. Designed to fit the CSL Universal Hub, ClubSport Universal Hub (all versions) and Podium Hub with no drilling. It has no electronics; a hub is required and console compatibility depends on the hub and wheel base.

Driving style

The Flat 1 is a 27.5 cm flat-bottom formula rim for cars with small steering angles. It suits F1 25, iRacing open-wheel series, Assetto Corsa formula mods, rFactor 2 and Automobilista 2 single-seaters, and also works for prototypes and GT cars if you prefer a compact wheel.

It fits Fanatec hub owners who want a light, quick formula rim. Best for formula and open-wheel racing; less suited for drifting, rally and road cars where you need to spin the wheel.

Build quality

Mid-range build

Brushed, anodized aluminum with genuine suede gives a light, rigid rim with no electronics. Suede offers strong grip but wears faster without gloves, and Fanatec excludes glove wear from warranty. It is a standard ClubSport rim below Podium and licensed replica rims.

Software

The ClubSport Wheel Rim Flat 1 has no electronics and needs no software. Buttons, paddles and console licensing come from the Fanatec hub and wheel base, configured in the Fanatec App on Windows PC.

Platform support follows the hub and base: Xbox requires an Xbox hub such as the ClubSport Universal Hub V2 for Xbox, and PlayStation requires a PlayStation-licensed base. On PC, SimHub and other tools work with the hub's inputs as usual.

What is the Flat 1 best for?

Fanatec designed it for formula racing with small steering angles and fast movements. The flat bottom and 27.5 cm size make it a poor fit for drifting or rally, where you spin the wheel.

Will the suede wear out?

Fanatec highly recommends gloves to protect the suede. On Overtake.gg, one sim racer reports ruining the suede on a Fanatec Formula rim by driving bare-handed, and others wear gloves to keep sweat off suede.

Is suede wear covered by warranty?

Fanatec says extra wear on rim materials and stitching caused by gloves is not covered under warranty. Clean only with a microfiber cloth and lukewarm water, without chemicals.

Flat 1 or Flat 2?

Both are 27.5 cm, 692 g formula rims. The Flat 1 has a brushed black finish with genuine suede; the Flat 2 has a polished silver finish with red synthetic suede, styled after classic formula cars.

Rim alone or the ClubSport Steering Wheel Flat 1 V2?

The rim costs $169.99 at Fanatec US for owners who already have a hub. The ClubSport Steering Wheel Flat 1 V2 combines it with a ClubSport Universal Hub V2 and is listed at $514.99.

Does the rim need software?

No. It is a passive rim; buttons and paddles come from the hub and settings from the wheel base in the Fanatec App.
