Fanatec CSL Pedals Clutch Kit

Most affordable third-pedal upgrade for the CSL Pedals

Description

The Fanatec CSL Pedal Clutch Kit adds a clutch to the two-pedal CSL Pedals, the most affordable three-pedal upgrade in the range.

Build. Heavy steel construction (except the pedal face) with pearl chrome plating, a contactless 12-bit Hall sensor for precision and durability, a height-adjustable pedal face and sideways adjustment along the CSL heel rest. The modular design allows inverted mounting, and a vertical rear plate lets the pedals be braced against a wall.

Connectivity. It does not add USB: the pedals must connect to a compatible Fanatec wheel base, or to a PC through the ClubSport USB Adapter (sold separately). On console, the pedals work through a Fanatec base, not via the USB Adapter.

Alternative. The CSL Pedals Load Cell Kit also gives a third pedal while upgrading the brake and adding USB; a set with the Clutch Kit can later be upgraded to the Load Cell Kit.

Features & highlights

Sideways adjustable along heel rest
Inverted mounting possible
Vertical rear plate for bracing against a wall
Cheapest way to add a third pedal to CSL Pedals
Durable contactless Hall sensor
Upgradeable later to the Load Cell Kit

Driving style

The Clutch Kit is for CSL Pedals owners who want a manual clutch for H-pattern shifting, clutch kicks and launches. It suits historic cars, road cars, drifting in Assetto Corsa and CarX, and rally in EA SPORTS WRC and DiRT Rally 2.0 when paired with a shifter.

It fits budget-conscious drivers who already have CSL Pedals and mainly want three pedals. Best for H-pattern and drift drivers on a tight budget; less suited for drivers who also want a load cell brake or standalone USB, where the Load Cell Kit is the better buy.

Build quality

Entry-level build

Steel construction with pearl chrome plating and a contactless Hall sensor make it durable and consistent with the all-metal CSL Pedals. It is a simple single-pedal add-on in Fanatec's entry CSL tier, with no electronics upgrade.

Software

The Clutch Kit has no software of its own. It plugs into the CSL Pedals, which connect via RJ12 to a Fanatec wheel base, where calibration and settings are handled in the Fanatec App or Control Panel on Windows PC.

For standalone PC use, the CSL Pedals need the ClubSport USB Adapter (sold separately). On console, the pedals work only through a Fanatec wheel base, not through the USB Adapter.

Frequently asked questions

Which pedals and bases does the CSL Clutch Kit work with?

It is an upgrade for the CSL Pedals. With them it works with all CSL Elite, CSL DD, ClubSport and Podium wheel bases, and with the ClubSport USB Adapter.

Does the Clutch Kit add USB?

No. The pedals still need a Fanatec wheel base, or the ClubSport USB Adapter (sold separately) for standalone PC use. The Load Cell Kit is the option that adds a USB port. On console, the USB Adapter does not work.

Is the Clutch Kit a load cell brake?

No. It adds a clutch pedal with a Hall sensor. An Overtake.gg user bought it thinking it was a load cell; the review clarifies it uses a stiffer spring, and the load cell brake is a separate kit.

Clutch Kit or Load Cell Kit?

The Clutch Kit is the cheapest way to add a third pedal. The Load Cell Kit also gives three pedals (the old brake becomes the clutch), upgrades the brake to a load cell and adds USB. A set with the Clutch Kit can later be upgraded to the Load Cell Kit.

How precise and durable is the clutch sensor?

Fanatec uses a contactless 12-bit Hall sensor, which avoids the wear of potentiometers. Overtake.gg users reported potentiometer spikes on the older CSL Elite pedals, an issue Hall sensors are designed to avoid.

How does the clutch feel?

It uses the CSL's steel arm and a height-adjustable face, and can slide sideways on the heel rest to set spacing. The vertical rear plate lets you brace the set against a wall if you don't use a rig.

Is it good value?

At $64.99 in the US it is the cheapest three-pedal upgrade. If you also want a load cell brake and USB, the $99.99 Load Cell Kit covers both for a bit more.

How do I calibrate the clutch?

Calibration and settings are handled through the Fanatec wheel base in the Fanatec App or Control Panel on PC. The kit itself has no software.

Where do I get support?
