Fanatec CSL Cockpit V1.5

Compact entry-level aluminum and steel GT cockpit with base plate for third-party bases

Description

The Fanatec CSL Cockpit V1.5 is a compact, entry-level cockpit with a trapeze chassis of aluminum tubing and steel brackets, powder-coated in black and yellow. Angled uprights spread the load more effectively than a rectangular profile frame.

Wheel base mounting. Optimized side mounting for Fanatec direct drive bases, plus an included, adjustable base plate pre-drilled for bottom mounting of many third-party bases and legacy Fanatec belt-drive bases. The mounting bracket offers three height options and a stepless 0 to 30° angle.

Pedals. A strong pedal mounting assembly designed for load cell brakes, with angle adjustment and an 80 mm stepless distance range to the seat.

Positions. Classic GT driving position for GT, oval, drift and rally; inverting the brackets gives a lower, more tilted karting position.

Extras. Hollow tubes with cable-hole caps for cable management, and felt and rubber foot pads for carpet or hard floors. Optional accessories (sold separately): CSL Cockpit Seat, seat sliders, monitor holder, freestanding monitor stand, shifter holder, keyboard holder and shelf.

Driving style

The CSL Cockpit V1.5 is aimed at drivers moving from a desk to their first rig, especially in GT, oval, drift and rally titles where its upright GT position feels natural, with an inverted karting position as an option. A Japanese long-term review on note.com describes the posture as close to a road car and the bolted frame as surprisingly rigid for the price, even suggesting it for 15 Nm-class bases, while The French Sim Racer notes some pedal-bridge movement under very hard braking. Best for beginners and space-limited home setups built around Fanatec hardware, less suited for formula-style reclined seating or complex multi-brand builds that need profile-style mounting surfaces.

Build quality

Entry-level build

The frame combines aluminum tubing with steel brackets in an angled trapeze design, powder-coated black and yellow. Reviewers describe the steering support as rigid with direct drive bases and the bolted structure as stronger than it looks, though The French Sim Racer reports some pedal-bridge movement under very hard braking and the note.com reviewer needed about six hours for assembly.

Software

The CSL Cockpit V1.5 is a mechanical frame and needs no software; it works with any platform the mounted wheel base and pedals support, including PC, PlayStation and Xbox. Fanatec publishes a quick start guide, a video guide and compatibility articles, including one on using third-party bases with the V1.5 base plate.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a third-party wheel base on the CSL Cockpit V1.5?

Yes. The V1.5 adds an adjustable base plate pre-drilled for bottom mounting of many third-party bases and legacy Fanatec belt bases; the original V1 only supported side-mounted Fanatec direct drive bases. Check the drilling pattern for your base, and bottom-mount users may need spacers to adjust the seat height relative to the wheel.

Which pedals, shifters and monitors fit the CSL Cockpit V1.5?

Fanatec lists CSL Pedals, CSL Elite Pedals (V1 and V2) and all ClubSport Pedals. ClubSport Shifters need the CSL Cockpit Shifter Mount, and the ClubSport Handbrake mounts to the side of a ClubSport Shifter. The optional monitor mount takes most VESA 100x100/75x75 screens up to 34" widescreen or 49" ultrawide.

Is the CSL Cockpit V1.5 rigid enough for direct drive and load cell pedals?

The note.com reviewer calls frame rigidity quite high for the price with no creaking or wobbling, and suggests it even for 15 Nm-class bases. GTPlanet felt no flex with the GT DD Extreme at launch, though maximum settings were not tested. The French Sim Racer notes reports of some pedal-bridge movement under very hard braking.

How long does the CSL Cockpit V1.5 take to assemble?

Fanatec includes tools and step-by-step instructions, but the note.com reviewer spent about six hours assembling it alone with all optional parts, noting many M8 bolts and nuts and some reassembly after mistakes. No durability issues were reported once built.

CSL Cockpit V1.5 or ClubSport GT Cockpit?

The CSL Cockpit V1.5 is a compact, lower-cost frame with a road-car style GT position. The French Sim Racer describes the ClubSport GT Cockpit as a different, larger tubular-steel platform with broader adjustment and integrated monitor mounting, and the note.com reviewer recommends the GT Cockpit for a more race-car feel.

What warranty does the CSL Cockpit V1.5 have?

The Fanatec US product page shows a 3-year warranty. Fanatec updated its warranty and return policies in 2025, as reported by GTPlanet, so check the current terms for your region before purchase.

Is the CSL Cockpit V1.5 good value?

The original CSL Cockpit launched at $399.99 / €399.99 in 2024 (GTPlanet). On October 13, 2026 Fanatec listed the V1.5 at $299.99 in the US and €249.95 in the EU. Reviewers highlight the low price for a rigid frame, but the seat and most accessories cost extra.

How adjustable is the CSL Cockpit V1.5?

The wheel base bracket has three height options and a stepless 0 to 30 degree angle, the pedal plate adjusts in angle and 80 mm of distance, and the brackets can be inverted for a karting position. The note.com reviewer notes pedals have no rail, so fine pedal and seat adjustment relies on mounting holes or optional sliders.
