Thrustmaster T818 Ferrari SF1000 Simulator

T818 direct drive base with the licensed Ferrari SF1000 Formula wheel

Description

The Thrustmaster T818 Ferrari SF1000 Simulator pairs the T818 direct drive base with the officially licensed Formula Wheel Add-On Ferrari SF1000 Edition, a 1:1 replica of the wheel from Ferrari's 2020 Formula 1 car.

T818 base. A custom direct drive motor delivers 10 N·m of constant torque with no saturation, per Thrustmaster. The quick release swaps Thrustmaster rims in about 5 seconds, and the box includes a desk mounting kit for tables 1.5–4.1 cm thick.

Ferrari SF1000 wheel. A 100% carbon fiber faceplate carries a 4.3-inch display that can show up to 69 in-game data items, 21 LEDs and 25 buttons, including 7 encoders. Reviewers note the display shows full telemetry mainly in F1 titles and Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Platform and pedals. The bundle is PC only, and pedals are not included. Thrustmaster pedal sets such as the T3PM or T-LCM connect directly to the base.

Driving style

This bundle is built for open-wheel fans on PC. The SF1000's see-saw paddles, encoders and display mirror a Formula 1 cockpit and work best in the official F1 games and Assetto Corsa Competizione, where its telemetry support is strongest. The T818's 10 Nm direct drive feedback is also strong enough for GT and touring cars in iRacing and Assetto Corsa with other Thrustmaster rims.

Best for PC drivers focused on Formula racing who want a licensed F1 wheel and are already in, or happy to join, the Thrustmaster ecosystem; less suited for console players, drift or rally drivers who need a round wheel, or buyers who want premium all-metal construction at this price.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The T818 base uses metal plates and a composite quick release adapter made of aluminum and high-strength plastic; reviewers describe it as solid but less polished than some metal rivals. The SF1000 rim has a carbon fiber faceplate and aluminum paddles over a plastic core with rubber grips, and reviewers note that its button labels feel cheap for the price.

Software

The bundle is configured through Thrustmaster's PC drivers and control panel on Windows: firmware updates, force feedback strength, and preset modes, with higher strength levels unlocked behind a safety warning. Reviewers describe the tuning options as basic, with a few feel presets rather than detailed filters.

There is no console support. The SF1000 display shows native telemetry in F1 titles and Assetto Corsa Competizione; elsewhere it mainly shows logos, so SimHub is a common companion for dashboards and LEDs.

Frequently asked questions

What is included with the T818 Ferrari SF1000 Simulator?

The T818 direct drive base, the Formula Wheel Add-On Ferrari SF1000 Edition, a quick release adapter kit and a desk mounting kit. Pedals are not included; Thrustmaster sells pedal sets such as the T3PA separately.

Does the T818 Ferrari SF1000 Simulator work on PS5 or Xbox?

No. Thrustmaster lists the bundle as PC only. Although the SF1000 rim has console button layouts when used on other Thrustmaster bases, the T818 base itself has no console support, and Trusted Reviews did not expect that to change.

Which games show telemetry on the SF1000 display?

Reviewers report full native support mainly in the official F1 games and Assetto Corsa Competizione. In other titles the 4.3-inch screen mostly shows a Ferrari logo, and it cannot be used as a settings menu for the base.

How does the T818 force feedback compare with a Fanatec CSL DD or Logitech G Pro?

Trusted Reviews found it similar to a boosted Fanatec CSL DD, strong and responsive but not clearly more refined, and noted it lacks the G Pro's TruForce vibration. PC Gamer called it very powerful and placed it slightly below the 11 Nm Logitech G Pro in rated torque.

Are the SF1000 paddles magnetic?

Yes. The shift paddles use push-pull magnetic operation and include lower clutch paddles. Traxion found them solid and precise but somewhat clunky, and Thrustmaster sells optional T-Chrono paddles for a crisper shift.

Is the T818 easy to mount on a cockpit?

The bundle includes a desk kit for tables 1.5–4.1 cm thick. For cockpits, reviewers report that the base's holes do not line up with some wheel decks and that the mounting adapter can be fiddly, so check your deck's pattern or budget for Thrustmaster's cockpit mounting plate.

Is the T818 Ferrari SF1000 Simulator worth the price?

It lists at $1,099.99 without pedals. Trusted Reviews considers it a strong upgrade for existing Thrustmaster owners but expensive next to Logitech G Pro, Fanatec CSL DD and MOZA R9 kits, partly because the wheel's build feels basic for the money.

Can I use the SF1000 wheel on other Thrustmaster bases?

Yes. Traxion lists compatibility with the TS-PC Racer, T-GT, TS-XW, TX and T300 servo bases, and the T818 accepts existing Thrustmaster rims through its quick release adapter.
