Thrustmaster EVO Wheel Rim 31U Leather โ€” 31 cm U-shaped synthetic leather rim with short paddles for the EVO Racing Hub

Thrustmaster EVO Wheel Rim 31U Leather

31 cm U-shaped synthetic leather rim with short paddles for the EVO Racing Hub

Description

The Thrustmaster EVO Wheel Rim 31U Leather is a detachable U-shaped rim for Thrustmaster's modular EVO Racing system. It has no electronics and must be combined with the EVO Racing Hub, sold separately.

Rim. A 31 cm (12.2 in) U shape for formula and endurance driving, wrapped in perforated synthetic leather over a brushed aluminum frame, about 600 g.

Paddles. A set of short paddle shifters is included and mounts to the hub's Mag-Shift modules.

Compatibility. It fits the EVO Racing Hub (2.3 in / 58 mm PCD), which works with Thrustmaster force feedback bases on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. It also swaps onto the hub of the EVO Racing 32R Leather and EVO Racing 31U Leather, so owners can change rim shapes.

Driving style

The 31U rim suits formula and endurance racing in F1 25, iRacing, Le Mans Ultimate and Assetto Corsa Competizione, where a U shape keeps hands at 9 and 3. It is for owners of an EVO Racing Hub or EVO Racing wheel who want a second shape alongside the round 32R.

Best for EVO Racing owners adding a formula-style rim; less suited for rally and drift, where the round 32R rim fits better, or for anyone without the EVO hub.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The rim pairs a brushed aluminum frame with perforated synthetic leather, at about 600 g, and comes with short paddles and mounting screws. Reviewers of the EVO system praise the comfortable rim but describe the hub as mostly plastic.

Software

The rim has no electronics or software of its own; all buttons, LEDs and paddle sensors are on the EVO Racing Hub, which is configured through the base's Thrustmaster drivers or My Thrustmaster Panel on PC.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to use the EVO Wheel Rim 31U?

It is a rim only, with no electronics. It must be mounted on Thrustmaster's EVO Racing Hub, sold separately, or on the hub of an EVO Racing 31U or 32R Leather wheel.

Which wheel bases does the EVO system work with?

Thrustmaster says the EVO Racing Hub works with all its force feedback bases, using two included quick release holders. Its support page lists minimum firmware for the T300, TX, T-GT / T-GT II, TS-XW and TS-PC, with update guides for the T818 and T598.

Are paddles included?

Yes. The box includes a set of short paddle shifters, screws and a Torx wrench. The paddles mount to the hub's Mag-Shift modules.

31U vs 32R vs 31D rim: which shape should I choose?

Thrustmaster positions the U-shaped 31U for formula racing, the round 32R with long curved paddles for rally and versatile use, and the D-shaped 31D for GT. All three are 31-32 cm synthetic leather rims for the EVO Racing Hub.

How is the EVO system's build quality?

Mediaberry found the EVO rims comfortable with soft synthetic leather but described the hub as almost entirely plastic, with buttons that wobble slightly. The 31U rim itself has a brushed aluminum frame and weighs about 600 g.

How much does it cost?

When verified, Thrustmaster's US eShop listed the EVO Wheel Rim 31U Leather at $89.99. The EVO Racing Hub it needs costs $199.99.
