MOZA Base Extension Rod

150 mm CNC aluminum shaft extension that keeps the MOZA quick release

Description

The MOZA Base Extension Rod (RS061) adds 15 cm (150 mm) between a MOZA wheel base and the steering wheel, imitating a real car's steering column.

Why use it. The extra distance lets you mount the base behind a monitor or dashboard, set the wheel closer to the driver, or free up legroom. MOZA's quick release stays in place, so wheels still swap without tools.

Build. CNC-machined aerospace-grade aluminum, designed to be rigid and light to limit added rotational inertia. A mounting bracket, cable, corner brackets and M8 hardware for profile rigs are included.

Compatibility. MOZA's support page lists all MOZA bases: R3, R5, R9, R12, R16 and R21.

Driving style

The Extension Rod suits drivers on profile rigs who want a realistic field of view: GT, endurance and open-wheel racers in iRacing, ACC, Le Mans Ultimate or Automobilista 2 who put the monitor low between the base and the wheel, and VR users who want the base out of the way.

Best for MOZA owners on aluminum-profile rigs chasing better ergonomics or FOV; less suited for desk setups or drivers sensitive to the slightest loss of feedback detail.

Build quality

Mid-range build

CNC-machined aerospace-grade aluminum with included bracket and M8 hardware. Most buyers report a solid fit with no rattle, while one reports the quick-release sleeve sliding back under leverage and another a slight loss of fine feedback.

Software

The rod needs no software. The wheel and base keep working through MOZA Pit House on Windows PC; buyers note Pit House can be used to re-center the wheel if the quick-release collar sits a few degrees off.

Frequently asked questions

Which MOZA bases does the Extension Rod fit?

MOZA's support page lists all MOZA wheel bases: R3, R5, R9, R12, R16 and R21. The product page omits the R21 in one spot, but the support article includes it.

Does the extension rod reduce force feedback detail?

Most buyers report no change and no rattling. One Apex Sim Racing reviewer noticed a slight loss of fine feedback, and one MOZA store reviewer had the quick-release sleeve slide back under leverage, causing wobble.

Will my wheel be centered after installing it?

One buyer found the quick-release collar a couple of bolt positions off with no center marker. Re-center the wheel in MOZA Pit House; this matters most in VR.

Why use a base extension?

It moves the wheel 15 cm away from the base, so you can place a monitor low between them, hide the base behind a dash, or get more legroom, while keeping quick release wheel swaps.

How does it compare with the Fanatec DD Shaft Extension?

Both add 150 mm in CNC aluminum. The Fanatec version fits only ClubSport DD/DD+ and carries the QR electronics with no cable, at about $150; the MOZA rod fits all MOZA bases, includes a cable and costs $99 on sale.

What warranty does the extension rod have?

MOZA's store lists up to 24 months of warranty protection and a 14-day return policy.

Is the Extension Rod worth $99?

Buyers rate it about 4.75/5 on Apex Sim Racing for ergonomics and monitor placement. It is on sale at $99 from $119 on MOZA's US store.
