Fanatec ClubSport Drift V2 vs R330 V2: Which Modular Wheel Should You Buy?

The Fanatec ClubSport Drift V2 and R330 V2 cost the same USD 514.99 and share the Universal Hub V2. One deep-dish rim for drifting, one flat 330 mm rim for everything else. Here is how to choose.

Two Modular Wheels, One Decision

Fanatec sells two modular ClubSport steering wheels at the exact same price: the ClubSport Steering Wheel Drift V2 and the ClubSport Steering Wheel R330 V2. Both cost USD 514.99, both build around the same Universal Hub V2, and both let you swap rims in minutes. The only real difference is the rim itself โ€” and that difference decides which wheel fits your driving style.

The Rim: Deep Dish vs Flat Round

The Drift V2 carries a 320 mm deep-dish rim. The dish pulls your hands closer to the quick release, shortening the lever arm and making the wheel feel direct and eager to rotate โ€” exactly what you want when you are counter-steering through a drift. The rim is wrapped in perforated leather with a flat bottom, so hand position stays predictable even when you are sawing at the wheel.

The R330 V2 goes the other way: a 330 mm flat, round rim with no dish. The larger diameter and neutral offset smooth out force feedback detail, which makes it the calmer, more precise choice for GT3, rally, and long road sessions. If the Drift V2 is a scalpel, the R330 V2 is a Swiss Army knife.

Build Quality and Materials

Both wheels share the same construction: CNC-machined aluminium spokes, genuine leather wrapping, and magnetic paddle shifters with replaceable caps. Button layout, telemetry display support, and the modular screw system are identical. You are not paying more for one build quality over the other โ€” every dollar of difference is rim geometry.

Compatibility: The Same for Both

Because both rims mount to the Universal Hub V2, compatibility is identical:

  • All Fanatec wheel bases with a compatible quick release (ClubSport DD, Podium DD, CSL DD lines)
  • PC, Xbox, and PlayStation bases within Fanatec's platform support
  • Podium Hub and Universal Hub V2 accessories (shifters, thumb encoders, display modules)

In other words: neither wheel locks you into anything the other one does not. Ecosystem first, rim second.

Which Driving Games Suit Each Wheel?

Pick the Drift V2 if drift and touge are your main diet โ€” Assetto Corsa drift builds, CarX, or any sim where constant counter-steering rewards a short lever arm. Pick the R330 V2 if you rotate between GT3, rally, and road driving โ€” iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, EA WRC, or Gran Turismo all favour the larger, flatter rim where subtle inputs matter more than snap rotations.

The Verdict

There is no bad choice here โ€” only a wrong pairing with your driving style. Drifters should take the Drift V2 and never look back. Everyone else โ€” and especially drivers who share a rig across disciplines โ€” is better served by the R330 V2.
