MOZA R25 Ultra

25 Nm direct drive flagship with built-in true torque sensor

Description

The MOZA R25 Ultra is MOZA's flagship direct drive wheel base, rated at 25 N·m of sustained torque. Unveiled at Gamescom in August 2025 alongside the R21 Ultra, it tops MOZA's Ultra line above the R16 Ultra and R21 Ultra.

True torque sensor. What sets it apart is a built-in torque sensor rated at 0.1% sampling accuracy with a 2 kHz response rate. Instead of estimating output from motor current, the base measures the torque it actually delivers, which MOZA says keeps force feedback consistent under long or heavy loads.

Motor and electronics. A zero-cogging flat-wire motor (MOZA claims 26% higher torque density than similarly sized competitors), a 21-bit magnetic encoder (2,097,152 PPR), a 1000 Hz USB refresh rate and iRacing 360 Hz mode support.

Design and mounting. Aluminum alloy housing and coupler with a plastic rear cover, 248.8 × 140 × 135 mm and 9.1 kg. It supports front, side and bottom mounting (an adjustable bracket is optional). Power comes from a 378 W adapter (110–220 V AC to 36 V DC). Two RGB strips can display telemetry effects.

Ecosystem and safety. Dedicated ports connect MOZA pedals, shifters, handbrakes, dashboards and an optional emergency stop switch. Intelligent thermal management monitors temperature in real time. Tuning is done in MOZA Pit House or the mobile app.

Compatibility. MOZA lists Windows PC as the platform. Xbox play is possible when paired with the MOZA ESX steering wheel; PlayStation is not supported. A steering wheel is not included.

Driving style

The R25 Ultra is built for experienced sim racers who already know direct drive and want flagship torque with extra precision. Its 25 N·m sustained output and true torque sensor give lots of headroom for heavy GT and prototype cars, wide-rim drifting and high-load formula cars in iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Le Mans Ultimate, rFactor 2 and Assetto Corsa, while the 21-bit encoder and 1000 Hz USB keep detail crisp at lower strength settings too. Reviewers note it is sharp and fast out of the box and benefits from added damping. Best for committed PC racers on a rigid aluminum-profile rig who want the top of the MOZA range; less suited for first-time direct drive buyers, desk setups or anyone who will never use more than 15 Nm, where the R16 Ultra or R21 Ultra make more sense.

Build quality

Premium build

The housing and coupler are aluminum alloy with a plastic rear cover, in a 248.8 × 140 × 135 mm body that weighs 9.1 kg. Inside sit a zero-cogging flat-wire motor, a 21-bit magnetic encoder and a dedicated true torque sensor rated at 0.1% accuracy, all passively cooled with real-time thermal monitoring and no fan to wear out. Power comes from an external 378 W adapter, and MOZA covers the base with up to 24 months of warranty.

Software

The R25 Ultra is configured in MOZA Pit House on Windows PC, where you set force feedback strength, damping, friction and inertia, use tools such as the FFB equalizer and base FFB curve, load one-click game presets, update firmware and set up the RGB strips; the MOZA mobile app can change settings mid-session. iRacing 360 Hz mode and iRacing LFE haptics are supported. On Xbox it works when paired with the MOZA ESX steering wheel, while PlayStation is not supported. Companion tools such as SimHub and Crew Chief run alongside on PC.

Frequently asked questions

Does the MOZA R25 Ultra work on Xbox or PlayStation?

MOZA lists Windows PC as the official platform for the R25 Ultra. Xbox play is possible when the base is paired with the MOZA ESX steering wheel, which handles the console authentication. PlayStation is not supported.

What does the true torque sensor actually do?

It measures the torque the base delivers (0.1% accuracy, 2 kHz response) instead of estimating it from motor current, which MOZA says keeps force feedback consistent under long or heavy loads. Reviewers describe the gain as measurable when catching slides but call it a luxury rather than a necessity for most users.

Why does the R25 Ultra feel spiky or oscillate out of the box?

Reviewers found the base very sharp with low natural damping, so the default iRacing 360 Hz profile can feel peaky and hyper-active on straights. Raising the wheel damper to roughly 20-30% in Pit House removed the spikiness in testing; one reviewer also recommends turning off Hands-Off Protection.

MOZA R25 Ultra vs R21 Ultra: which should I buy?

Both share the same housing size, flat-wire motor and 21-bit encoder. The R25 adds 4 Nm of sustained torque and the true torque sensor for $200 more. Reviewers call the R21 Ultra the safer value pick and position the R25 for top-end users who want extra precision.

Is the R25 Ultra good value against Simucube and other flagships?

At $899 it works out to about $36 per Nm. One review compares it to the Simucube 3 at a much higher price and calls the R25 Ultra a good deal for a pro-level setup, with the caveat that it ties you to the MOZA wheel and accessory ecosystem.

Does the R25 Ultra overheat or make fan noise?

There is no fan: the base is passively cooled and MOZA adds intelligent thermal management with real-time temperature monitoring. Reviewers note silent operation; for very long sessions MOZA says the system regulates output to protect the motor.

What warranty does the R25 Ultra have?

MOZA's US store lists up to 24 months of warranty protection and a 14-day returns policy for direct purchases.

What do I need to mount the R25 Ultra?

Plan on a rigid cockpit or aluminum-profile rig: 25 Nm puts real force through the mounting point. Bottom mounting works directly; front and side mounting require MOZA's own brackets, and reviewers note some third-party rigs may not line up.
