Driving style

The TM Leather 28 GT suits GT and road-car racing in Gran Turismo, Assetto Corsa and Forza on a T-Series base, where its compact leather rim and rotary switch for brake bias work well. GTPlanet praised its comfort as a clear upgrade over rubberized stock rims, but found the PlayStation button layout awkward in menu-heavy games.

Best for T-Series owners who want a comfortable leather GT rim; less suited for button-heavy PC endurance racing or Formula cars.

Frequently asked questions

Which bases does the TM Leather 28 GT fit?

Thrustmaster lists the T300 RS, T500 RS, TX, TS-XW, T-GT and TS-PC. On the T818 it needs the Quick Release Adapter, one of which comes with the T818.

Where can I buy it in the US?

When verified, Thrustmaster's US eShop showed it out of stock at $179.99, while Amazon.com had it in stock at $179.99, sold by Amazon.

How does the leather feel?

GTPlanet called the hand-stitched leather soft, supple and a pleasure to touch, a clear comfort improvement over the rubberized rims of the T300 RS and T500 RS.

Is the button layout good on PlayStation?

GTPlanet found the left-side white X button awkward for menu navigation on PlayStation, especially in menu-heavy games like Gran Turismo, though it worked around it. Button functions differ between PlayStation and PC/Xbox.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 1 kg. Thrustmaster says the low weight improves inertia and force feedback.

TM Leather 28 GT vs TM Open Wheel: which should I get?

Both are 28 cm rims with 6 buttons, a D-pad and a rotary switch. The Leather 28 GT has a genuine leather rim and weighs 1 kg; the Open Wheel uses suede grips, an aluminum faceplate and weighs 864 g.
