Driving style

Like the standard SF1000, the T-Chrono Edition targets Formula 1 and open-wheel racing in the official F1 games, Assetto Corsa Competizione and iRacing. The T-Chrono paddles address the main criticism of the original: Traxion.gg found the stock paddles a little clunky and the T-Chrono switches quicker and crisper.

Best for F1 fans on PlayStation or PC with a Thrustmaster base who want the sharper paddles from day one; less suited for rally, drift or Xbox users.

Build quality

Premium build

It has a 100% carbon fiber faceplate and fully aluminum T-Chrono paddles with gold-plated silver contacts, at 1,250 g. Traxion.gg describes the SF1000's mix of carbon fibre, aluminium, plastic and rubber as premium and comfortable.

Software

There is no separate app: the wheel is configured and updated through the base's Thrustmaster drivers on Windows, or My Thrustmaster Panel on the T818 and T598. On PlayStation it works plug-and-play through a compatible Thrustmaster base. Native display telemetry is strongest in the F1 games.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the SF1000 T-Chrono Edition and the standard SF1000?

The T-Chrono Edition comes with T-Chrono Paddles, 100% aluminum push-pull shifters with gold-plated silver contacts and under 5 ms bounce, instead of the standard magnetic paddles. Thrustmaster lists it at 1,250 g versus 1.3 kg for the standard version, with the same display, 25 buttons and 7 encoders.

Is it available now?

When verified, Thrustmaster's US eShop listed it as a pre-order at $399.99, down from a $429.99 list price.

Which platforms and bases does it support?

Thrustmaster lists compatibility with its wheel bases on PS5, PS4 and PC. Xbox is not listed for this edition.

Are T-Chrono paddles better than the stock SF1000 paddles?

Traxion.gg found the stock SF1000 paddles solid but a little clunky, and the T-Chrono switches quicker, crisper and more satisfying. Both are aluminum, so the difference is mainly in the switch feel.

Is it cheaper than buying the SF1000 and T-Chrono Paddles separately?

Yes at the launch pre-order price: $399.99 for the T-Chrono Edition versus $429.99 for the standard SF1000 plus $79.99 for T-Chrono Paddles on Thrustmaster's US eShop. The standard version still includes the magnetic paddles if you want both sets.

Does the display work in all games?

Reviews of the SF1000 found the display most useful in the official F1 games, with limited native support in other titles, although all buttons remain mappable.

Where do I find support and updates?

Firmware is updated through the base's Thrustmaster PC drivers or My Thrustmaster Panel, and manuals and guides are on Thrustmaster's support site. A warranty flyer is included in the box.
