MOZA HGP Shifter — CNC aluminum 7+R H-pattern shifter with automatic throttle blip

MOZA HGP Shifter

CNC aluminum 7+R H-pattern shifter with automatic throttle blip

Description

The MOZA HGP Shifter is a 7+R H-pattern shifter machined from anodized aviation-grade aluminum.

Mechanism. Seven forward gears plus reverse, with reverse and 7th locked so you push down to engage them. A 15-bit non-contact angle sensor reads the lever, and a shock-absorbing damping system softens metal-on-metal engagement.

Throttle blip. MOZA Pit House can add an automatic throttle blip on downshifts, so you can rev-match without heel-and-toe.

Knob and mounting. The knob is replaceable and accepts most aftermarket knobs with standard threading. Mounts with M6 bolts from the base; a Universal Mounting Plate and table clamp are sold separately. Dimensions are 100 × 140 × 250 mm and weight is 1.8 kg.

Connection. Plugs directly into a PC over USB with no adapter, or into the shifter port of a compatible MOZA wheel base via RJ11.

Driving style

The HGP is for drivers who want a real H-pattern for historic cars, road cars, touring cars and trucks in Assetto Corsa, Automobilista 2, rFactor 2, iRacing's manual cars, Euro Truck Simulator 2 and rally titles with H-pattern classics. Its 7+R layout with locked reverse covers modern and classic gearboxes, and the throttle blip helps newcomers rev-match. Reviewers compare its shift feel to the Fanatec SQ 1.5 at a much lower price. Best for PC racers on a budget who want a metal H-pattern; less suited for drivers who also need sequential shifting, where the SGP or a combined shifter fits better.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The HGP is CNC-machined from anodized aviation-grade aluminum, weighs 1.8 kg and uses a 15-bit contactless sensor, with a dust cover over the gate. Reviewers describe it as solid and heavy, though metal-on-metal engagement is loud and the gate feels stiff when new. MOZA lists up to 24 months of warranty on the badge, while its specs mention a 12-month limited warranty.

Software

The HGP is configured in MOZA Pit House on Windows PC, including calibration (hold the lever down while sweeping left to right) and the optional automatic downshift throttle blip. It connects via USB as its own device, so it works with any wheel brand on PC, or through a MOZA base's shifter port. One reviewer hit Pit House quirks during setup, and a user reported some games could not map 4th-7th gear on older firmware.

Frequently asked questions

Does the MOZA HGP work with non-MOZA wheel bases?

Yes on PC. It plugs into the PC over USB with no adapter, so it works alongside any wheel brand; it can also connect to a MOZA base's shifter port via RJ11.

How does the HGP feel compared with the Fanatec ClubSport Shifter SQ?

A reviewer found the shift feel and indexing similar to the SQ 1.5 with a stiffer gate, at about 60% of the price. The SQ adds a sequential mode, and needs Fanatec's USB adapter on PC without a Fanatec base.

Is the HGP shifter loud?

Reviewers list noise as the main con: metal-on-metal engagement is loud, though the built-in damping and included dampers help.

What is the HGP's automatic throttle blip?

An optional Pit House feature that blips the throttle on downshifts, so you can rev-match without heel-and-toe technique. It can be enabled, disabled or customized.

How do I calibrate the HGP?

Calibration is done in MOZA Pit House; a reviewer found it unintuitive because you must hold the lever down while sweeping it left to right. A user also reported some games failing to map 4th-7th gear, which a newer firmware was said to fix.

How do I mount the HGP?

It mounts from the base with M6 bolts (hardware included). There are no side or rear mounting options; for a desk, add MOZA's Universal Mounting Plate and table clamp, sold separately.

Does the HGP have a sequential mode?

No, it is H-pattern only. MOZA sells the SGP as a separate sequential shifter.

Is the HGP good value?

At $149, reviewers call it a budget shifter that punches above its weight; one scored it 8.8/10.

What warranty does the HGP have?

MOZA's US page shows up to 24 months of warranty protection but its spec section lists a 12-month limited warranty, plus a 14-day money-back guarantee. Confirm terms with MOZA.
