MOZA HBP Handbrake

Aluminum handbrake with swappable springs and analog or button mode

Description

The MOZA HBP is a handbrake for drifting and rally made from CNC-machined, anodized aerospace-grade aluminum.

Sensor. A non-contact high-precision sensor (MOZA lists 15-bit; reviews cite 16-bit) reads the lever without wear.

Adjustment. Swap springs to change pull force, and adjust travel, rebound strength, stop position and lever angle, from vertical to horizontal. In MOZA Pit House it can work as an analog axis with an adjustable curve or as an on/off button.

Mounting. Mounts from the base with M6 bolts; side mounting is optional. For a desk, MOZA sells a Universal Mounting Plate and table clamp separately. Weight is 0.7 kg and dimensions are 153 ร— 68.3 ร— 365.5 mm.

Connection. USB directly to a PC, or to a compatible MOZA wheel base.

Driving style

The HBP is for drift and rally drivers in Assetto Corsa, CarX Drift Racing, EA SPORTS WRC, DiRT Rally 2.0 and Richard Burns Rally, plus police-chase and road-car sims. Analog mode allows partial pulls to adjust drift angle, and button mode works for quick hairpin flicks. Reviewers praise its grip and firmness for the price. Best for budget-minded drift and rally fans on PC or a MOZA base; less suited for drivers who want load cell precision, where the Fanatec ClubSport Handbrake V2 or similar fit better.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The HBP is almost entirely CNC-machined, anodized aerospace-grade aluminum, with only a small plastic cover over the electronics. It weighs 0.7 kg and uses a contactless sensor with swappable springs, and reviewers call it solid and very well built for the price. MOZA lists up to 24 months of warranty.

Software

The HBP is set up in MOZA Pit House on Windows PC, where you choose analog axis or button mode and adjust the response curve. It connects via USB as its own device, so it works with any wheel brand on PC, or through a compatible MOZA wheel base. A reviewer found setup and firmware updates easy.

Frequently asked questions

Does the MOZA HBP work without a MOZA wheel base?

Yes on PC. It connects directly via USB as its own device, or to a compatible MOZA base with a cable.

Can the HBP work as a button instead of an analog axis?

Yes. In Pit House it can run as an analog axis with an adjustable response curve or as a simple on/off button.

How do I change the HBP's pull force?

Swap the included springs and adjust the stops to change hardness and travel; rebound strength and stop position are also adjustable.

How can I mount the HBP?

It mounts from the base with M6 bolts, which a reviewer found limiting since side mounting is not standard. The lever can be set vertical, horizontal or angled. For a desk, add MOZA's Universal Mounting Plate and table clamp.

Is the HBP well built?

Reviewers describe it as solid aerospace aluminum with only a small plastic electronics cover, and the contactless sensor needs no maintenance.

MOZA HBP vs Fanatec ClubSport Handbrake V2?

The Fanatec V2 uses a load cell and costs more; the HBP uses a contactless angle sensor at $99. Load cells measure force rather than position, which some drivers prefer for precise partial pulls.

Is the HBP good value?

Reviewers call it highly recommended for rally, drift and chase sims and scored it 9/10, citing build quality for the price. MOZA lists it at $99.

What warranty does the HBP have?

MOZA's US store lists up to 24 months of warranty protection and a 14-day returns policy.
