Fanatec ClubSport Handbrake V2

All-metal load cell handbrake for rally and drift, with ClubSport USB Adapter included

Description

The Fanatec ClubSport Handbrake V2 is an all-new handbrake for rally and drifting, with stronger components and improved electronics over its predecessor.

Load cell. A precision load cell sensor delivers smooth, consistent analog input based on the force you apply.

Construction. Cast and CNC-finished steel and aluminum, powder-coated black casing and lever, ball bearings on the pivot and a removable rubber grip.

Adjustment. Adjustable preload (via a disc inside the casing), three lever angle positions plus fine tuning with a rear bolt, invertible orientation and 60, 70 or 80 mm travel using a removable spacer.

Mounting. Hard-mount to a rig in vertical or horizontal orientation, at an angle on aluminum profile, or to the side of a ClubSport Shifter with the included spacer. Table mounting is possible via a ClubSport Shifter and its table clamp (sold separately).

Connection. RJ12 to a Fanatec wheel base or the handbrake port of supported Fanatec pedals; the included ClubSport USB Adapter allows standalone use on Windows PC. On Xbox it needs a supported base plus an Xbox-licensed Fanatec wheel; on PS4/PS5 a supported PlayStation-licensed base. The analog signal is not yet optimized for belt-driven bases (functional, but max output does not calibrate as intended).

Driving style

The ClubSport Handbrake V2 is built for rally and drift drivers in titles such as EA Sports WRC, Assetto Corsa and DiRT Rally, where modulating partial handbrake pressure matters. OC Racing praises its excellent control and repeatability and its flex-free lever, while noting it stays firm even when tuned down; SimRacingCockpit.gg highlights the extra precision of the load cell for partial pulls in drifts. Best for dedicated rally and drift drivers on a Fanatec setup, less suited for casual drivers who only want a light lever to initiate the occasional slide or for budget builds, where cheaper handbrakes such as the Moza HBP make more sense.

Build quality

Premium build

The V2 uses a cast and CNC-finished steel and aluminum frame, a powder-coated aluminum casing and lever, ball bearings on the pivot and a load cell sensor. BoxThisLap reports no side-to-side play and a weight above 1.5 kg versus under 950 g for the V1.5, and OC Racing describes the lever as completely flex-free even under aggressive use.

Software

Connected to a Fanatec wheel base or pedals by RJ12, the handbrake is configured through the Windows-only Fanatec App, and Fanatec recommends updating the base and connected devices to the latest firmware. With the included ClubSport USB Adapter it works as a standalone USB device on Windows PC with any wheel brand, and on consoles it works through a supported licensed Fanatec base in games that support a handbrake. BoxThisLap found mapping consistent and free of fluctuations in Assetto Corsa.

Frequently asked questions

Does the ClubSport Handbrake V2 work on PlayStation and Xbox?

Yes, through a Fanatec base: on PS4/PS5 it needs a supported PlayStation-licensed Fanatec wheel base, and on Xbox a supported base plus an Xbox-licensed Fanatec wheel. Functionality depends on the game. The ClubSport USB Adapter is for standalone use on Windows PC only.

Is a USB adapter included with the ClubSport Handbrake V2?

Fanatec's US product page now lists the ClubSport USB Adapter in the box. Earlier reviews from BoxThisLap, OC Racing and SimRacingCockpit.gg criticized it as a separate purchase (about €19.95), so check the box contents if buying older stock.

Does the ClubSport Handbrake V2 work properly with belt-driven Fanatec bases?

It works, but Fanatec states the analog signal is not yet optimized for belt-driven bases such as the CSL Elite and ClubSport V2/V2.5: the max output does not calibrate as intended. Fanatec says a future firmware update will improve this; direct drive bases are fully supported.

How does the ClubSport Handbrake V2 feel?

OC Racing describes it as stiff, confident and mechanical with excellent control and repeatability, but firm even when tuned down. SimRacingCockpit.gg praises the load cell's extra precision for partial pulls, and BoxThisLap notes an adaptation period before inputs became consistent.

Is the ClubSport Handbrake V2 sturdier than the V1.5?

Yes, according to reviewers. BoxThisLap reports no side-to-side play, unlike the V1.5, and a weight above 1.5 kg versus under 950 g. OC Racing says the lever stays completely flex-free under aggressive use, and SimRacingCockpit.gg calls it a quantum leap in build quality.

ClubSport Handbrake V2 or Moza HBP?

SimRacingCockpit.gg notes the Moza HBP costs about half as much and uses a 16-bit position sensor with good precision, while the Fanatec adds a load cell and Fanatec ecosystem integration. OC Racing also wishes the V2 had integrated buttons like Moza's SGP and a brake-like elastomer feel like the Heusinkveld handbrake.

What warranty does the ClubSport Handbrake V2 have?

Fanatec advertises a 3-year warranty on all products on its US store. It updated its warranty and return policies in 2025, as reported by GTPlanet, so check the current terms for your region before purchase.

Is the ClubSport Handbrake V2 worth the price?

On October 13, 2026 Fanatec listed it at $229.99 in the US and €199.95 in the EU. OC Racing considers it excellent for dedicated rally and drift drivers but possibly overkill in strength and price for casual use; SimRacingCockpit.gg points to its strong resale value.

How do I adjust preload, angle and travel?

Open the casing to reach the preload disc, which adds tension on the elastomer and load cell stack. The lever has three angle positions plus a rear bolt for fine tuning, and a removable spacer sets 60, 70 or 80 mm of travel. OC Racing notes most changes require removing the top plate.
