Trak Racer TR80S Racing Simulator

80 × 40 mm aluminum profile cockpit with a hybrid Formula/GT pedal plate

Description

The Trak Racer TR80S (V6) is an aluminum profile sim racing cockpit built from thicker-walled 80 × 40 mm extrusion, anodized black. It replaces the older TR80 MK5 and is Trak Racer's value entry to profile rigs.

Frame and mounts. Side-mounted wheel uprights with heavy-duty 80 × 40 brackets carry the wheel plate, and Trak Racer recommends wheel bases up to 16 Nm. The footprint is 660 × 1200 mm and the frame weighs 32 kg.

Hybrid pedal plate. The pedal plate adjusts in height and angle to move between Formula-style (feet up) and GT-style (feet down) positions with ratchet levers. It is pre-drilled for major wheel, pedal and shifter brands; the shifter mount and seat slider are optional.

Upgrades. More than 30 add-ons are available, including monitor stands, keyboard, speaker and bass shaker mounts. For stronger bases, the TR120S V2 is rated for 30 Nm+.

Driving style

The TR80S is a first aluminum profile rig for drivers with entry and mid-range direct drive bases. TweakTown puts the sweet spot at about 9–12 Nm, which covers bases like the MOZA R9 V3, Fanatec CSL DD and Simagic Alpha Mini in GT, touring and Formula cars across iRacing, ACC, F1 and Assetto Corsa. The hybrid pedal plate lets one rig cover both Formula and GT positions.

Best for budget-minded drivers who want profile-rig modularity and a compact footprint; less suited for 15 Nm+ direct drive bases, which push toward the TR120S V2 or TR160.

Build quality

Entry-level build

The TR80S uses 80 × 40 mm thicker-walled anodized aluminum extrusion with heavy-duty brackets and side-mounted wheel uprights. TweakTown noted slight flex at higher loads but no real concern up to about 12 Nm, and found the painted aluminum scratches easily.

Software

The TR80S is a mechanical cockpit and needs no software or drivers. It works with any platform the mounted wheel base, pedals and shifters support, including PC, PlayStation and Xbox.

Trak Racer's online compatibility lists help confirm hole patterns for specific wheel bases and pedals before buying.

Frequently asked questions

Is the TR80S the replacement for the TR80 MK5?

Yes. Trak Racer no longer lists the TR80 MK5; its current 80 x 40 mm profile rig is the TR80S (V6), priced at $499 on the US store.

How much torque can the TR80S handle?

Trak Racer recommends wheel bases up to 16 Nm. TweakTown found slight flex but no real concern, and put the sweet spot at about 9–12 Nm; for stronger bases it points to the TR120S V2 or TR160.

Can the TR80S do both Formula and GT seating?

Yes. The hybrid pedal plate adjusts in height and angle to switch between feet-up Formula and feet-down GT positions using ratchet levers and a locking bolt. TweakTown saw slight plate flex underfoot but it handled hard braking with CRP2 load cell pedals.

Does the TR80S come with a seat?

The $499 frame listing does not include a seat; Trak Racer sells seats and seat brackets separately. TweakTown's review unit was an $898 package with the GT Pro bucket seat, and the reviewer recommends adding a seat slider, which the base model lacks.

Are there any build quality complaints?

TweakTown found the painted aluminum scratches easily, one arm's coating chipped in transit, and the wheel mount needed re-tightening after first use. It still scored the rig 92% with a Must Have award.

TR80S vs TR8 PRO V2: which should I buy?

Per Trak Racer's chart, the TR80S (80 x 40 mm profile, 32 kg) is rated to 16 Nm with a hybrid Formula/GT pedal plate, while the TR8 PRO (2-inch tube, 51 kg) is rated to 25 Nm with seat sliders and a shifter mount included. The TR80S is cheaper and more modular; the TR8 PRO handles stronger bases.
