Trak Racer TR8 PRO V2 Racing Simulator

Compact tubular cockpit rated for direct drive bases up to 25 Nm

Description

The Trak Racer TR8 PRO V2 is a compact sim racing cockpit built from 2-inch tubular steel. Trak Racer rates it for wheel bases up to 25 Nm, and its 600 ร— 1300 mm footprint fits smaller rooms.

Adjustment. A patented 3-point wheel mount adjusts angle and height and slides 130 mm fore and aft on ball-bearing sliders. Seat slider rails, oversized bucket-seat brackets and a gear shifter mount for either side are included. The pedal plate is strengthened to 180 kg of braking force and pre-drilled for current pedal sets.

What you add. The frame ships without a seat, electronics or monitor stand. Trak Racer sells an integrated single monitor stand for screens up to 70 inches, triple stands and over 30 accessories. Assembly takes about 45 minutes, according to Trak Racer.

Compared with. For heavier wheel bases or more modularity, the TR120S V2 uses 120 ร— 40 mm aluminum profile.

Driving style

The TR8 PRO V2 suits GT and touring car drivers in iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, F1 and Gran Turismo who are moving from a desk to a dedicated rig with a direct drive base in the 5โ€“25 Nm range, such as a MOZA R9 or a Fanatec CSL DD. Its upright seating suits GT positions, and the shifter mount covers rally and drift setups with a handbrake.

Best for drivers with limited space who want a sturdy, quick-to-build rig for a mid-range direct drive base; less suited for anyone planning a 25 Nm+ base, a true Formula seating position or heavy accessory customization.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The TR8 PRO V2 uses a 2-inch tubular steel frame with heavy-duty brackets, a pedal plate rated for 180 kg of braking force and ball-bearing wheel mount sliders. Traxion found no flex with a MOZA R9 under heavy braking and steering, and praised the build quality; the 51 kg frame is heavy to relocate.

Software

The TR8 PRO V2 is a mechanical cockpit and needs no software or drivers. It works with any platform the mounted wheel base, pedals and shifters support, including PC, PlayStation and Xbox, as Trak Racer states it is PC and console compatible.

Trak Racer's online compatibility lists and accessory configurator help check mounting for specific wheel bases and pedals before buying.

Frequently asked questions

What wheel bases can the TR8 PRO V2 handle?

Trak Racer recommends it for wheel bases up to 25 Nm. Traxion found no flex with a MOZA R9, and Trak Racer offers direct drive mounting that accepts a Fanatec Podium DD. For 25 Nm+ bases, Trak Racer points to its TR120S, TR160S and TRX rigs.

Does the TR8 PRO V2 include a seat?

No. The $699 frame includes seat slider rails and brackets for most fiberglass bucket seats, but the seat, monitor stand and electronics are sold separately. Trak Racer also sells brackets for office chairs and reclining seats.

How long does the TR8 PRO V2 take to assemble?

Trak Racer quotes about 45 minutes. Traxion found assembly simple with pre-installed bolts, clear instructions and included tools, and one person can build it alone; the manual is provided by QR code.

Is the TR8 PRO V2 rigid enough for direct drive?

Traxion reported no flex or shifting under heavy braking or steering with a direct drive base. The pedal plate is rated for 180 kg of braking force.

TR8 PRO V2 or an aluminum profile rig like the TR80S or TR120S?

Per Trak Racer's chart, the TR8 PRO (2-inch tube) is rated to 25 Nm, the TR80S (80 x 40 mm profile) to 16 Nm and the TR120S (120 x 40 mm profile) to 30 Nm+. Traxion notes the TR8 PRO has a smaller accessory ecosystem than extrusion rigs but is quicker to build.

Can the TR8 PRO V2 hold a large monitor?

Trak Racer sells an integrated single monitor stand rated for screens up to 70 inches, plus triple and quad stands. Traxion's reviewer questioned the 70-inch claim given the mount's size, so heavier TVs may suit a freestanding stand better.

Is the TR8 PRO V2 good value?

The frame is $699 on Trak Racer's US store. Traxion calls it a solid mid-range choice that costs more than budget rigs but justifies the price with build quality, comfort and easy adjustment.
