Thrustmaster T-GT II Servo Base

40 W brushless belt base built for Gran Turismo on PS5, PS4 and PC

Description

The Thrustmaster T-GT II Servo Base is the base from the officially licensed Gran Turismo wheel, sold separately. It uses a 40 W brushless motor (T-40VE) with linear brushless force feedback, fed by the external T-Turbo power supply with 400 W peak power and 86% efficiency.

Force feedback technologies. T-RTF real-time force feedback, T-LIN linearity, T-DCC drift curve calculation, T-M.C.E. motor cooling and T-F.O.C. control, plus T-DFB 3D depth feedback in Gran Turismo. Position is read by Hall Effect sensors.

Platforms and ecosystem. Compatible with PS5, PS4 and PC, with a USB switch for GT and other modes. It accepts Thrustmaster add-on wheels such as the Ferrari F1, 599XX EVO 30, Open Wheel and Leather 28 GT.

Size. 40 × 37.5 × 31 cm and 8.46 kg, with a clamp attachment system included. Thrustmaster does not publish a torque figure; reviewers estimate around 6 Nm.

Smoother and stronger than the T300 per GT7 players

Driving style

The T-GT II is built around Gran Turismo: on PS5 and PS4 it gives a smooth, strong and linear feel in GT7, with the T-DFB effect adding subtle under- and oversteer cues, and it also works well in F1, Assetto Corsa Competizione and, on PC, iRacing and Assetto Corsa. Its estimated 6 Nm is more than the T300, but belt damping filters fine detail compared with direct drive. Best for committed GT7 players already using Thrustmaster rims and pedals; less suited for PC-only racers or anyone who can stretch to a direct drive base like the T598 or Fanatec GT DD Pro.

Build quality

Mid-range build

The T-GT II pairs a 40 W brushless motor with a belt drive and internal fans in a large housing (40 × 37.5 × 31 cm, 8.46 kg), powered by a separate T-Turbo supply with 400 W peak. Reviewers find it responsive and capable, but note the mostly plastic, bulky design and some fan and belt noise.

Software

On PC the T-GT II uses the Thrustmaster Force Feedback driver package with the Thrustmaster Control Panel (rotation, force feedback and effects) and a firmware updater. On PS5 and PS4 it is plug and play, with the USB switch set to GT for Gran Turismo or OTHER for other games; T-DFB depth feedback is only available in supported Gran Turismo titles. SimHub and Crew Chief run alongside on PC.

Frequently asked questions

Does the T-GT II Servo Base work on Xbox?

No. The T-GT II base is compatible with PS5, PS4 and PC only. Xbox users should look at the TS-XW, which uses a similar 40 W motor package.

What is the GT/OTHER switch on the T-GT II?

The base has a USB sliding switch: set it to GT for Gran Turismo, where features like T-DFB are available, and OTHER for other games. T-DFB depth feedback only works in supported Gran Turismo titles.

How much torque does the T-GT II have?

Thrustmaster does not publish an Nm figure. OC Sim Racing estimates about 6 Nm and found it stronger, with higher peaks, than the 5 Nm Fanatec GT DD Pro without its boost kit. GTPlanet users also describe it as stronger than the T300.

Does the T-GT II fade or get noisy?

Internal fans keep it cool, and GTPlanet owners report long sessions without fade, though one user saw fade after about 1.5 hours at high FFB settings. OC Sim Racing notes the fans and belts make some noise, but not enough to be annoying.

T-GT II vs T300: is it a big upgrade for GT7?

GTPlanet users consistently describe the T-GT II as smoother, more linear and stronger than the T300, but most call it a modest step up. The usual advice is to buy the base only and keep your existing rim and pedals if you are a committed GT7 player.

Is the T-GT II base worth $449.99?

Reviewers call it capable but expensive for a belt drive now that direct drive bases cost about the same. Flow Racers suggests it mainly for Gran Turismo fans; others may prefer the T300 or a direct drive base such as the T598.
