MOZA R5 Bundle

5.5 Nm direct drive base, ES wheel and SR-P Lite pedals

Description

The MOZA R5 Bundle packs everything needed to start in direct drive: the R5 wheel base (5.5 Nm peak torque), the ES steering wheel, SR-P Lite pedals and a table clamp. MOZA sells the R5 base only in bundles in the US.

R5 base. An aviation-grade aluminum housing holds a direct drive motor with a 15-bit encoder, NexGen 4.0 force feedback, 2700° maximum rotation and a 1000 Hz USB refresh rate. It has four bottom mounting holes and ports for pedals, shifter, handbrake, dashboard and an optional emergency stop.

ES wheel. The 11-inch wheel has an aluminum frame, microfiber leather grips, 22 buttons and 10 configurable rev LEDs, attached through MOZA's quick release. Formula and 12-inch round mods are available.

SR-P Lite pedals. Steel throttle and brake pedals with Hall sensors and adjustable spacing and plate height; no clutch is included. Reviewers recommend the low-cost SR-P Lite Performance Kit for a more progressive brake.

Platform. The bundle works on Windows PC. For Xbox, MOZA's R-series bases need the ESX wheel instead of the ES; PlayStation is not supported.

Driving style

The R5 Bundle is aimed at newcomers and racers stepping up from gear-driven Logitech or Thrustmaster wheels. Reviewers found its 5.5 Nm direct drive force feedback stronger and more detailed than the number suggests, which suits GT, touring and casual rally driving in iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Assetto Corsa, F1 and EA WRC on a desk with the included clamp.

Best for PC beginners who want a complete, quiet direct drive kit and an upgrade path; less suited for drivers who want strong load-cell braking out of the box or already want more than 5.5 Nm.

Build quality

Entry-level build

The R5 base has an aviation-grade aluminum front and sides with a plastic rear cover, and reviewers describe it as solid and heavy for its size. The ES wheel uses an aluminum frame with microfiber leather grips, and the SR-P Lite pedals are all steel with Hall sensors. The paddles are mechanical spring units and the brake is a simple spring without a load cell.

Software

All three devices are configured in MOZA Pit House on Windows PC: force feedback effects and filters, rotation, pedal curves, button mapping, rev LED behavior, presets and firmware updates through a single USB connection. The MOZA mobile app allows quick preset changes. MOZA ships GT, Formula, Drift and Rally presets.

There is no PlayStation support. Xbox play requires swapping the ES for the MOZA ESX wheel. SimHub can drive the rev LEDs and dashboards in games where native telemetry is limited.

Frequently asked questions

What comes in the MOZA R5 Bundle?

The R5 direct drive base (5.5 Nm peak), the 11-inch ES steering wheel, SR-P Lite throttle and brake pedals (no clutch), a table clamp, power adapter and cord, USB cable, toolkit and manual. MOZA sells the R5 base only as part of bundles in its US store.

Does the MOZA R5 Bundle work on Xbox or PlayStation?

Out of the box it works on Windows PC only. MOZA bases can run on Xbox when paired with the MOZA ESX wheel instead of the ES wheel included here. PlayStation is not supported.

Is 5.5 Nm enough force feedback?

For a first direct drive setup on a desk, reviewers say yes. PC Perspective found the R5 stronger and more detailed than its rating suggests, and Notebookcheck called the feedback realistic across several games. The trade-off is that the base cannot be upgraded beyond 5.5 Nm later.

How good are the SR-P Lite pedals in the bundle?

They are steel pedals with Hall sensors, but the brake uses a basic spring, so reviewers describe braking as linear and not very progressive. PC Perspective strongly recommends MOZA's low-cost SR-P Lite Performance Kit, which adds a second spring and elastomers. Drivers who want load-cell braking will need a pedal upgrade.

Is the R5 loud or does it get hot?

Reviewers report that the base is very quiet; it has no fan. PC Perspective notes a heat-protection setting that is on by default and keeps temperatures in check. With it disabled, the base can get warm after long sessions. The ES wheel's mechanical paddles are clicky.

MOZA R5 Bundle vs a Logitech or Thrustmaster gear wheel: is it worth the jump?

Reviews position the R5 Bundle as an entry to direct drive at a price close to gear-driven sets. The main gains are smoother, more detailed force feedback and a quieter base; the weak points are the basic pedals and non-magnetic paddles. Competing bundles may include better pedals, so compare the full kit, not just the base.

What warranty does the R5 Bundle have?

MOZA's US store lists up to 24 months of warranty protection and a 14-day return policy for the R5 Bundle.

Is the R5 Bundle worth $379?

MOZA US lists it at $379 on sale against a $599 regular price. Reviewers consider it strong value at discounted prices, with the caveat that adding the Performance Kit or better pedals raises the real cost.

What can I tune in MOZA Pit House?

Pit House controls force feedback effects and filters, rotation range, pedal curves, button mapping and rev LED colors, and imports or exports profiles from MOZA, developers and users. Reviewers find it powerful but sometimes overwhelming for newcomers.
