Driving style

The Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-On suits Formula and open-wheel racing in the F1 games, iRacing, rFactor 2 and Assetto Corsa on a Thrustmaster base. Its push-pull shifters and rotary knobs give quick access to settings, and its light weight helps force feedback detail, according to Thrustmaster's pro racers.

Best for drivers who want an affordable licensed F1-style wheel on a T-Series base; less suited for those who want a screen and shift lights, or for rally and drift.

Build quality

Mid-range build

It combines a reinforced brushed metal faceplate and metal push-pull shifters with a textured rubber rim and plastic button housing, at 1,295 g. It is an older design than the carbon fiber SF1000 and SF-25 wheels.

Software

No separate app is needed: the wheel is configured through the base's Thrustmaster drivers on Windows, where Advanced mode unlocks 25 buttons. On PlayStation and Xbox it works plug-and-play in Normal mode through a compatible Thrustmaster base.

Frequently asked questions

Which bases does the Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-On work with?

Thrustmaster says it is compatible with all Thrustmaster bases. It fits T-Series bases such as the T300, TX, T-GT, TS-XW and TS-PC directly; the T818 needs the Quick Release Adapter (one is included with the T818), and the T598 supports all Thrustmaster add-ons, some with an adapter.

Why do I get fewer buttons on console?

The wheel has two modes. Normal mode works on PC, PlayStation and Xbox with 13 action buttons and 2 D-pads; Advanced mode is PC-only and offers 25 action buttons and 1 D-pad.

Does it have a display or shift lights?

No. The Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-On has no screen or rev LEDs. Thrustmaster's SF1000 and SF-25 wheels add a 4.3-inch display and LEDs.

What are the shifters made of?

Thrustmaster describes genuine F1-style push-pull shifters in scratched brushed metal, mounted on a reinforced brushed metal faceplate with textured rubber grips.

How heavy is it, and does that affect force feedback?

It weighs 1,295 g. Thrustmaster's pro racer David Greco describes it as lightweight for optimal feeling, which helps the base convey force feedback detail.

Where can I buy it in the US and for how much?

When verified, it was $199.99 on Thrustmaster's US eShop and $199.99 sold by Amazon.com.

Where do I find support and manuals?

Manuals and troubleshooting guides are on Thrustmaster's support site, and firmware for the wheel system is updated through the base's PC drivers.
