MOZA Active Shifter Knob — Shifter knob that turns an AB9 flight base into a force feedback shifter (base not included)

MOZA Active Shifter Knob

Shifter knob that turns an AB9 flight base into a force feedback shifter (base not included)

Description

The MOZA Active Shifter Knob is the shifter part of the MOZA Active Shifter, sold on its own for people who already own an AB9 FFB Base. Attaching it turns the flight base into a force feedback shifter.

Hardware. Aerospace-grade aluminum alloy housing, aluminum lever and microfiber leather boot. MOZA lists a 100 mm lever for H-pattern and 130 mm for sequential; the knob ships with the spherical head.

Modes. With the AB9's dual servo motors (12 Nm peak, 15-bit encoder, ±20° travel), it works as an H-pattern, sequential or handbrake, switched and tuned in MOZA Pit House.

Install. Attach it to the base connector and turn clockwise. The base is not included; the full Active Shifter bundle with the AB9 costs $538. PC only.

Driving style

The knob suits PC flight simmers who already own an AB9 and also race manual cars in Assetto Corsa, iRacing or truck sims, letting one base serve both hobbies.

Best for AB9 owners who want a force feedback shifter cheaply; not useful without the base, and buyers without one should compare the full Active Shifter bundle with mechanical shifters like the HGP or SGP.

Build quality

Premium build

Aerospace-grade aluminum housing, aluminum lever and microfiber leather boot. A MOZA store buyer reports good build quality and that a real-car knob mounts securely.

Software

Mode switching (H-pattern, sequential, handbrake), gear count, resistance, damping and vibration are set in MOZA Pit House on Windows PC. No console support. The community SimHub plugin for the AB9 shifter adds a reverse/7th lockout and telemetry effects not in the stock mode.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Active Shifter Knob include the base?

No. It is only the knob and requires a MOZA AB9 FFB Base. The full MOZA Active Shifter, which includes the AB9, costs $538.

Does it work with the AB6 base?

The knob's product page only names the AB9. MOZA's support article mentions AB6 or AB9 flight bases while listing the AB9 as required, so confirm with MOZA before using an AB6.

How does it feel as a shifter?

Feel comes from the AB9's motors. Reviewers of the Active Shifter found H-pattern decent but reported no self-centering, lever play and a spongy sequential mode; others rated it highly.

Is there a reverse lockout?

Not in the stock mode. A community SimHub plugin adds a push-through lockout for reverse and 7th plus telemetry effects.

Can I fit a different shift knob?

MOZA says the default spherical knob can be replaced, and a MOZA store buyer reports a real-car knob mounts securely.

Knob or full Active Shifter?

If you already own an AB9 for flight sims, the $39 knob gives the same shifter function. Without a base, buy the $538 Active Shifter bundle or a mechanical shifter such as the HGP.

Is the Active Shifter Knob worth $39?

For AB9 owners it is a cheap way to add a force feedback shifter; for anyone else it does nothing on its own.

What warranty does the knob have?

MOZA links its standard warranty policy (up to 24 months on most products) and a 14-day return policy; check the policy for this item.
