Simucube Pedals (ActivePedal Ultimate + 2 Co-Pedals + Baseplate)

Three-pedal set with an active force feedback brake

Description

Simucube Pedals is Simucube's bundle around the ActivePedal Ultimate, a motor-driven pedal whose feel is defined in software. This configuration pairs one ActivePedal Ultimate with two Co-Pedals and the Simucube Baseplate to form a complete brake, throttle and clutch set.

ActivePedal Ultimate. A servo motor produces up to 170 kg of brake force. Force curves, travel, damping and friction are adjustable in real time, and the pedal reproduces ABS engagement, traction control, RPM and G-force effects when the sim provides telemetry. It can be configured as a brake, throttle or clutch and switches profiles automatically by car and sim. It weighs 6 kg and measures 100 × 250 × 402 mm.

Co-Pedal and Baseplate. The Co-Pedal is a passive pedal with patented Arc-profile mechanics that works as a throttle or a clutch, with adjustable preload, travel, pedal angle and face tilt. The baseplate (391 × 65 × 566 mm, 4.2 kg) includes an adjustable heel rest.

Alternatives. The MOZA mBooster pedal set offers active braking at a lower price; Simucube also sells sets with two or three ActivePedals.

Driving style

Active pedals pay off most for drivers who switch between many cars and want each brake to feel different: GT3 and prototype racing in iRacing, Assetto Corsa Competizione and rFactor 2, where ABS and traction control effects come through the pedal, and Formula cars where brake pressure and travel matter. Real-world and professional drivers use the per-car profiles to match their own car's brake.

Best for serious PC sim racers and pros with a rigid aluminum profile rig who want the most adjustable brake available; less suited for budget builds, desk setups or drivers who already get what they need from a good load cell pedal.

Build quality

Premium build

The ActivePedal Ultimate is a 6 kg motor-driven pedal assembly, and reviewers praise its finish and precision. The Co-Pedal uses a redesigned shell frame that Simucube says reduces flex, and the baseplate is a 4.2 kg plate with an adjustable heel rest. Simucube backs the ActivePedal Ultimate with a 5-year warranty, according to Overtake's review.

Software

The pedals are configured in Simucube Tuner on Windows PC: force curves, travel, damping, friction, pressure points and effect frequencies, with per-car profiles that switch automatically. Simucube Link handles telemetry for effects such as ABS, traction control and RPM.

The set shows up as a standard USB game controller, so it works with any wheel base on PC. Console use is not supported by Simucube. Effects only appear in sims that expose the needed telemetry.

Frequently asked questions

What is included in this Simucube Pedals set?

One ActivePedal Ultimate, two Simucube Co-Pedals and the Simucube Baseplate with heel rest. The ActivePedal ships with its power supply, USB and RJ45 cables and mounting screws. Simucube's US store lists this configuration at $3,786.

Is there still a Simucube ActivePedal set of 3?

Simucube now sells the ActivePedal Ultimate individually or as sets of two or three ActivePedals, and the Simucube Pedals bundle with one ActivePedal plus Co-Pedals. This set uses one active brake and two passive Co-Pedals for throttle and clutch, which costs much less than three ActivePedals.

Do Simucube pedals work with other wheel bases or on consoles?

On PC they appear as a standard USB game controller, so they work alongside any wheel base. BoxThisLap does not cover console use, and Simucube does not list console support, so treat them as PC-only.

ActivePedal Ultimate vs ActivePedal Pro: do I need 170 kg?

The Ultimate produces up to 170 kg of force and the Pro up to 110 kg. BoxThisLap notes most drivers rarely sustain more than about 80 kg of braking, so the Pro covers nearly all real use, while the Ultimate has the most defined effects.

Simucube ActivePedal or MOZA mBooster?

BoxThisLap describes the MOZA mBooster as costing about half the ActivePedal Pro, with dual 200 kg load cells and simpler software, but slightly less defined haptics and an audible motor hum. In Overtake comments, some users preferred the MOZA for value, while others said load cell pedals give far better value than either.

What effects can the ActivePedal reproduce?

ABS engagement, traction control, wheel lock-ups, RPM vibration and G-force effects, in addition to fully adjustable stiffness and travel. Effects depend on the sim supplying the telemetry, so support varies by title.

Is the ActivePedal noisy, and what rig does it need?

Overtake's review notes friction noise that is louder than on conventional pedals. BoxThisLap recommends a rigid aluminum profile cockpit, because the pedal's force will flex lighter rigs.

What warranty does the ActivePedal Ultimate have?

Overtake's review reports a five-year warranty on the ActivePedal Ultimate. Simucube also sells refurbished units with a two-year warranty, according to BoxThisLap.

What software configures the pedals?

Simucube Tuner on Windows sets force curves, damping, travel, pressure points and effect frequencies, with automatic per-car profiles. BoxThisLap calls it very deep, possibly more than casual users want.
