Fanatec GT Cockpit Direct Drive Front Mount

5 mm steel bracket for third-party front-mount direct drive bases on the ClubSport GT Cockpit

Description

The Fanatec GT Cockpit Direct Drive Front Mount replaces the standard under-mount plate of the ClubSport GT Cockpit so you can install a third-party front-mounted direct drive wheel base.

Construction. A 5 mm thick steel bracket (340 x 150 x 150 mm) in black powder coating, fitting between the cockpit's standard adjustable steering brackets.

Adjustment. All standard tilt and fore-aft adjustment is retained; tilt is set with T-handle bolts.

Compatibility. Most third-party front-mount DD bases. It is not compatible with Fanatec wheel bases, which use the cockpit's standard under-mount plate.

Driving style

The GT Cockpit Direct Drive Front Mount is for ClubSport GT Cockpit owners running a non-Fanatec front-mounted direct drive base from brands such as Moza, Simagic, Simucube or Asetek, or who want the option to switch brands later. OC Racing tested the GT Cockpit with a Moza R12 at full torque and reported no meaningful flex in the cockpit itself, while Boosted Media found that this front-mount deck flexes enough with higher-torque bases to soak up fine force feedback detail.

Best for low-to-mid torque third-party front-mount bases on a GT Cockpit; less suited for very high-torque bases where Boosted Media found flex, and not usable with Fanatec bases.

Build quality

Mid-range build

A 5 mm steel bracket with black powder coating that fits between the GT Cockpit's adjustable steering brackets. Boosted Media calls the design clever but undermined by thin material, reporting flex under higher-torque loads that absorbs fine force feedback detail.

Software

The front mount is a passive bracket and needs no software. The third-party wheel base you install uses its own software, such as MOZA Pit House, Simagic SimPro Manager or Simucube Tuner.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a Fanatec wheel base with the Direct Drive Front Mount?

No. Fanatec states it is not compatible with Fanatec wheel bases; those use the GT Cockpit's standard under-mount plate. The front mount is only for third-party front-mounted direct drive bases.

Which wheel bases does it fit?

Fanatec lists most third-party front-mounted direct drive bases. Check your base's front bolt pattern against the bracket before buying, as Fanatec does not publish a list of tested models.

Does the front mount flex with high-torque bases?

Boosted Media reports the steel is thin enough that the deck flexes under higher-torque bases, absorbing fine force feedback detail. OC Racing ran a Moza R12 at full torque on the GT Cockpit and found no meaningful flex in the cockpit itself.

Do I lose any adjustment with the front mount?

No. It fits between the standard adjustable steering brackets and keeps the same tilt and fore-aft adjustments as the standard under-mount plate.

Is it worth buying?

At $74.99 it is an inexpensive way to run a non-Fanatec base on the GT Cockpit. For very high-torque bases, Boosted Media's flex findings suggest considering reinforcement or a different rig.

Does it need software?

No. The bracket is passive; your wheel base uses its own driver software.
